Over at TheCGS.com I've written an article on the Birmingham Salvo PGR team, Jason “NeoJake” Holmes and David "DaveySkills" Kelly.

After the UK Championship, which saw a narrow 5-4 victory in PGR3 for Holmes and Kelly, but ultimately a Salvo team loss, both racers resolved to pick up the slack and lead the way for their team.

No one was more determined than Holmes.

An early mistake in London saw Holmes fighting for position throughout the race, and another mistake on the final corner lead to his last place finish.

To try and vindicate his result, Holmes went through a period of intense practice during the off season, spending almost all of his free time with an Xbox controller grasped firmly between his hands. Although online and LAN play can be very different, a string of impressive results online left Holmes feeling quite self-assured.
