Nvidia have purchased PhysX creators AGEIA. AGEIA's PhysX software is widely adopted with more than 140 PhysX-based games shipping or in development on Sony Playstation3, Microsoft XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii and Gaming PCs. AGEIA physics software is pervasive with over 10,000 registered and active users of the PhysX SDK.
While I'd agree with common perception that this isn't the biggest story of the year by any means I think it has a particular significance for us gamers. In recent times we've really begun to notice the importance of big business with respect to gaming. More and more often we see small tributary business' being bought up by the larger companies. Intel bought Havok and not to be outdone AMD swooped for ATi. Presumably this should imply more competition and better prices, however I do wonder, is having such a duopoly competitive for gamers or simply competitive for the companies themselves?
