Hey Einh, for those who have been living under a rock, give us a quick introduction.
I'm Kristof "Einh" Kennes, game and cup supervisor for CS:Source on ClanBase, as well as part of CB's management.
This is still unpaid, so if I don't reply INSTANTLY, it means I'm doing stuff for school ;)
This season's CS:S has prizes, unlike last season, how do you feel about this?
Well, we haven't had "decent" prizes for CS:S since before I joined the ClanBase crew, EuroCup XIII had cash prizes, since then we've "only" had SteelSeries hardware.
I guess that gamestop vouchers of €125 a person are a step in the good direction. It's definitely better than last season's grand total of "Nothing + Prestige", but obviously I want CS:S to get the same treatment 1.6 was able to enjoy for such a long period of time on CB.
I've said it each season since I've been supervising the EuroCup, but it'd be great to see some more people commenting and reading the stuff we put up on the cuppages. That's a good way to secure that kind of improvement.
Just look at CoD4 and UT, those games are getting more prizes, because those communities really stick to ClanBase. If we as a CS:Source community had the same to offer CB, I'm sure we'd get valued the same.Though 700+ signups for CoD4 aren't exactly something we're close to.
Another thing I'd like to point out is that CB will be cooperating with GGL's Digital Games - and if you want to see CS:Source featured there, we should probably get spamming as explained here.
Are you happy with the signups so far?
For the EuroCup I'm quite happy. There's still some teams missing that I'd like to see participate, but who knows with the announcement of some prizes they might still follow.
It really warmed my heart when I spoke to some teams who signed up even before the announcement, knowing your event still holds a fair deal of prestige is something nice to know.
Most clans that participate in the EC are actually very cool to work with, though some of them really oughtta check their servers so we can please all the fans with a working sourceTV.
OpenCupwise, I'd like to see some more signups coming in. Not because I enjoy the bigger workload I have to spread over my crew (though it's always nice to cater to a bigger audience), but because the more signups we have, the more chance we have of getting a chunk of the SteelSeries prizepurse for the OpenCup.
Any last words?
Yeah, thanks everyone who'se trying to make CS:S a better game. Thanks to some people in the "pro"-community for their help (in keeping me on my toes for example ;)) Thanks for your time, and I hope everyone will enjoy this season's Open and EuroCup!
