i33 : ChrisyB Interviewed
@ i33 channel

Although the CSS and CoD4 competitions are stealing the stage at i33, there is equally fierce competition in FIFA 08 as well. Cadred spoke to Chris "ChrisyB" Bullard about the upcoming tournament.

With one of the most competitive entry lists in iSeries history, how confident are you going into this tournament?

Im very confident this time around, unlike the last tournament at i32 where the tournament was played on Fifa 08 and i was still playing Fifa 07 for CGS. This time we see the competition played on Xbox 360 which i haven't played on at all, however the game is very similar to the PS3 version i have been playing with in FIWC Qualification so i think i have a very good chance of winning and i will if i play my A Game on the day.

The reigning champion Andruxa is attending once again, representing Team Dignitas. Do you feel he will be able to retain his crown?

Probably not due to the Tournament being played on Xbox 360. If it was on PC he would definately be my main rival in the competition. I'm led to believe he hasn't played that much on the Xbox 360 but of course he is a natural talent at Fifa so it depends what he picks up before the Tournament begins. He will probably be the dark horse in this tournament which he may prefer.

Your UK rival Bazza will also be attending, along with the Birmingham Salvo. How do you expect him to do against the big Europeans attending?

He will do fine and i would predict him to make the Final 4 at least and he has to be considered one of the main runners in this tournament. The Xbox Scene in Europe isn't as big as it is on the PC, in fact the UK probably has the biggest Fifa scene for console gaming in Europe so Me and Bazza may have more problems getting past some of our fellow UK players.

There are numerous other big names attending, such as dries from tek9, jivagos, somb, Vijay and HughJarse. Who do you think will make it to the podium, and who will get left behind the pack?

I would expect Dries to be very good, after all he is last years FIWC Champion which was on the Xbox and probably the first player to be looked at as Proffessional for Fifa playing on a Console. He has also won FIWC Holland earlier this year. I already know Vijay is a good player after playing him myself in an FIWC Qualifier. Somb and Jivagos are thought of highly in the Dignitas camp for their skills on the Xbox. Hughjarse as well is the current Xbox Fifa Champion on Xleague so the competition is probably as fierce as it ever has been at an i-series. I would predict the podium will be SOmb, Dries and yours truly in no specific order ;) with a few shock Knock Outs in the early rounds.

Do you think the pressure of the tournament may affect certain, more inexperienced players, and will your experience with CGS help you here?

To a certain extent, however most players are all use to playing under the pressure. My ability to remain calm on the big stage helps me in every tournament and i expect this one to be no different. I think the best prepared players will triumph though. SOme of the UK players attending have clocked up 1000+ games, so it will be a good test with alot of Pro Gamers attending to see how Quantity does against Quality.

This competition is played on Xbox, whereas CGS is played on PC. To the non-FIFA community this may not seem that important, but my understanding is that the games are made by completely different departments of EA and have huge changes gameplay wise. How have you split your preparation, and has it affected your confidence or expectations?

My preperation has been divided between the two games since Mid January. The games are completely different so for a CSS fan, the best example i could give would be playing Cod4 and CSS Proffessionally at the same time. It's hasn't been easy becuase of the long CGS season going until December with most people starting to play Fifa 08 in October. I'm not sure if i have caught up the 3 months i was behind yet, but i'm not far away.

The Ps3/Xbox version has been the version i have been playing more of though in recent weeks after SEC, as i will stop playing after the 31st March when online FIWC qualification ends. Then i will concentrate on PC 100% to prepare for CGS. I'm already at a pretty good level in both games thanks to my own crazy training regime i put on myself, but i'm still a little bit off feeling like i am the best in the World on both games. I think it all helps as some bugs in the games do transfer over and the playing styles. They have both coinsidered nicely with each other, allowing me to break between playing one specific game, it's nice to play two games for the variation.

Thanks a lot for your time Chrisy, and best of luck in the tournament.
