Zen's Top 10 European CoD4 Teams
@ Spotlights channel

Untitled Document

It is finally the time for the first Cadred's Top10 European CoD4 teams article. The ones we have done for CS:S have been really successful and we are now starting the era of the CoD4 top10 rankings. There have been many different methods of doing the CS:S articles, from which I've decided to use the one based on own opinions. This means that the following ranking's are fully based on my opinions and the teams' recent performances at CDC4 and i33.

1. Team Dignitas

2. TheLastResort

3. fnatic

4. eSuba

5. h2k.Qpad (ex. oXmoze)

6. SK Gaming

7. Tek-9

8. Roskilde Ravens

9. DCC Gaming

10. Exabyte

The Teams

Team Dignitas

This one is definitely a surprice for many people. Dignitas has been swimming in mud the last two years, as they haven't been able to win anything big since their victory at CPC 2006. According to Mick after their victory at i33, the team's attitude and spirit has changed totally after CDC4. The team dropped lukzar, pointing out that he was the one slowing them down when it comes to activity. Whether that is true or not, it worked. The addition of Sko was the best thing that has happened to Dignitas in two years. He brought in his tactical knowledge and experience of huge matches, which made this team win right away. Even though Dignitas underperformed at CDC4, it is arguably the best european team now after winning the huge CoD4 tournament of i33.

I think nobody can argue the fact that TLR belongs right here, on the second place. This team came from nowhere and fought its way to the Grand Final of CDC4. After that, most people thought that it was just beginners luck, even though these guys are really experienced. At i33, they showed their worth once again. They fought their way throught the Loser Bracket to fight against Dignitas in the Grand Final. They, once again, gave a huge challenge and didn't let Dignitas take the victory easily. They don't deserve the First place, not just yet, but I am sure they are going to win something huge really soon if they keep this up.

fnatic

The winner of CDC4 and the biggest winner candidate at i33. However, they perhaps underperformed a bit at i33, or maybe they just couldn't beat the Brits on their soil. Also the comeback of zEm and departure of klanne must have had some kind of effect on their "bad performance".Their 4th rank at i33 was anyway a really respectable performance and they definitely deserve this 3rd rank.

eSuba

The Eastern Europe's powerhouse. Their 3rd rank at CDC4 is probably enough to justify their 4th rank in this article. Also, many people, including me, think that they have the most individual skill in the whole Europe and with improved teamwork and practise, they could reach the top3.

H2k.Qpad

This team performed better than expected at CDC4. After a stunning victory over SK in the Quater finals they couldn't reach the final nor win the 3rd place decider. However, their 4th rank at CDC4 is still enough to raise them this high in this list.

SK Gaming

The winner of the recent CODQCUP, who got a place in one of the Europe's biggest multigaming organisations and jumped over the Dutch border to compete at CDC4. With their little amount of preparation, they managed to reach the respective 5th-8th rank. That, with their CODQCUP victory, definitely justifies their ranking over here.

Tek-9

The dominants of CoD2 haven't still managed to reach the same level in CoD4. They underperformed a bit at both i33, with a 5th-6th rank, and CDC4, with a 5th-8th rank. Just yesterday, Ozwald wrote a blog entry about their underperformance. He pointed out that the team hasn't been practising enough to reach the top3. However, he promised their fans that when Strelok's arm is back in shape, they will start practising more to reach what they are expected to. I personally do believe that they can reach the top3 pretty soon.

Roskilde Ravens

This 8th rank is far from too high for these Danish stars. They managed to reach the playoffs at CDC4, even though their deadly group had Intense, Serious and Lowlandlions in it. Actually they didn't lose a point in the groupstage matches. After that great performance, they were unlucky to face SK in the first round of the Single Elimination playoffs and were dropped out to a 9th-16th final rank. Last weekend, they attended the i33 CoD4 tournament and came out with a final rank of 7-8. Once again, they managed to steal points from teams like Tek-9 and EG in the groupstage, but couldn't cope with the pressure in the playoffs.

DCC Gaming

This team has all the needed potential, as it consists of all-star Dutch players who have the experience needed to be in the top10. This lineup did even better at CDC4 than I expected, finishing 5th-8th. If they keep on practising hard, they have a pretty good chance to keep up this high ranking.

Exabyte

This team came from nowhere to compete against the best of the best at i33. The performed extremely well in every single match they played and managed to challenge top teams like roskilde and fnatic in the lower bracket. Following their 5th-6th final ranking at the i33 CoD4 tournament, the team respectively taken its place in this Top10 list. This team has something same as TLR, and it has the potential to reach higher rankings.
