The April edition of CODQCUP has reached it's playoffs and is currently one of the hottest online events in the CoD4 community. One of the main factors bringing popularity to this particular event is their official videocasting partner, TGBF. Many people, including me, find Swede as a very interesting person, so I've decided to ask him a few questions so that we find out more about him.
Hello Swede, could you start by introducing yourself to our readers?
Nutcase from TGBF named Rikard and yes I’m a Swede (Thought the nick revealed that)
Seems that you've really fallen in love with the newest edition of the CoD series. Why do you think it's so delightful to watch and cast?
Hmmm well I think it’s actually a catch from the COD2 where the action was a little more “normal” speeded for us Ol’ farts , since our reactions are getting slower. The COD scene moved forward and so did we.
How do you see the future of CoD4? Do you think that getting CoD4TV is essential for making this game the new "big one"?
I do believe every TV tool is exceptional compliment to the audience; however we have never seen a larger demand since we aim to reach all audience, not primarily the active COD scene itself. If someone created a unified TV-TOOL that didn’t require the game to be bought / owned, then I would praise the lords of bandwidth.
Let's move on and talk more about you. Have you always had this same "Swede style" in casting? For those who haven't listened to Swede's casts, he is more like Conan O'Brien than a sports commentator during matches.
Cooonan eeeh’ well our roots is not within gaming but rather from Radio/Media, this is our style and what we do for the love and passion. Sometimes even the match is secondary, but we try to be as serious as we can J.
Personally I hate the term SHOUTcast, We invented a TGBF version as we call it a SHOWcast instead which better describe our thang. “Put the kids to sleep, pop some corns and bring the beer. Leeeet the war begin…..”
You must have had some kind of gaming career of your own. Could you tell us something about it?
Yes and No I started with Online nonsence back in the days you rather didn’t know wtf the IT Highway even was. I have done the BBS adventure games over slow twat modems, wasting “millions” to the tele companies. However it really took of with the quake series since it more or less is the breakthrough platform for online multiplayer games. 1 thing led to another and here we are today. (I was a fairly skilled BF1942 Tanker back then though ;-)
When you were a small kid, did you dream of becoming a well-known eSports commentator?
HAHAHA Internet and Computers wasn’t really what you have today. In my youth we had to play friggin Soccer to entertain ourselves. TV was colored though. Our biggest “E-sports” challenge was how many turn around you could do on 1 live in Donkey Kong. (THE DONKEY KONG!!)
A good friend of mine described your oral expression as sailor-like. Are you actually a sailor? Is it your hidden secret?
Arrrr! Landlubber, a Pirate perhaps ??
Let's talk a little about the current CODQCUP and the European CoD4 scene in general. What is your predicted outcome of the CODQCUP (i.e which teams will form the top3)?
Who is playing ? no but seriously, I’m not the best dude to check the status on the teams, even though I predicted 100% correct last season hihihi.
There are a lot of big Offline events coming this summer. Which teams do you think are gonna be strong next summer?
Above
Thank you Rikard. I wish you will have loads of fun casting the upcoming events.
Cheers all, and please stop send us feedback of how YOU would like US to-do shit J you’re just wasting your time.
