LAN79: BO3, Yay or Nay?
@ Lan79 2008 channel

Best of three single elimination may become the latest fad after this LAN, which has seen some of the best games in the history of Counter-Strike: Source, almost every match has had at least one 16-14 score in it, making games incredibly tense. Teams like Magnitude, aTTaX and Guns4hire have fallen on the wrong side of the tournament format, with early losses against opponents who simply outplayed them.

I speak to some of the top players here for their verdicts on best of three.

I don't think it's suitable for such a big LAN, foreign teams come along way to participate, one tough match and they may be out. It helps to define the better team though as they're skilled across a wide variety of maps. I guess if you're a fan of some good team you get to see them play alot more.

I think single elimination is totally shit, because the simple fact that we completely had to knock out a team such as magnitude at such an early stage. the seedings are so much more important when you use single elim.

I don't like it, because you just have to make one mistake and you're out. You choose one map to play, and if you chose wrong you've messed up the entire tournament.
What do you think? Is best of three a format which results in a better spectator experience, share your thoughts in the comments.
