Tonight saw the Guns4Hire versus mTw game in the Clanbase Eurocup plunged into a sizzling pot of controversy, with Guns4Hire's comments before the game earning them a default loss, and immediate removal from the Clanbase Eurocup.

Statement from Winters, head Clanbase CSS Eurocup admin;

g4h and mTw got into some kind of argument (I wasn't present when it started) and then several of g4h's players became extremely abusive towards mTw. That's where we pulled the line.

Statement from nooky, mTw;

I'm quite sure that clanbase will release a statement about the things which happend within the next few days maybe hours.11but we are very disappointed in the behavior of the British players and of course the national players which should be a role model for their fans.

Statement from Luke "KritikaL" Green, guns4hire;

I got told the game was at 9, basically chilli had told their manager to change the game to 9 they agreed so we all knew we were to play @ 9 cause of the enc game and the football match between england and USA. SO anyways we come on the server find that 2 of our players have 100 loss on the server, so we asked to change the server VARIOUS times and they said NO We play here on GERMAN server, bit biased on its own so we kept arguing our point about using our nl server, and they started speaking German to us... dunno what they said but it seemed quite abusive from my point of view, one of our players said "we didn't learn that nazi language sorry" they all left the server and then continued the argument in irc where they kept speaking German saying we were late for the game and that we wouldn't play on the server( with 100 loss no thanks).

All in all bishop in the past has constantly tried to get default games he used to try and do it in 1.6. Fairr enough what we said probably wasnt acceptable but what they did was ridiculous as well, why should i have to change my schedule around theirs? even though they agreed to it.. i did my best to get on in the 10 minutes i had and i got there to then be told that they were already arguing their point to get a default even though they had the wrong server and were abusing us in german. Kind of stupid.

A disappointing end to the Clanbase Eurocup sees guns4hire ejected from the competition and a number of its players banned from Clanbase.

I could plead mitigating circumstances of confusion over times, poor playability on the server and 3 of the players coming straight out of an ENC loss to Slovakia, all contributing to frayed tempers and aggravating the situation but I wont.

I was horrified by the behavior of a number of my players and the insults and language used were harsh and inexcusable.

My apologies go to the mTw and Clanbase organiseations who were both on the receiving end of this mindless unnecessary verbal abuse.

I have yet to decide my course of action for the future as emotions are running too high at the moment and I need to take stock of what has happened this evening and the implications it has for the myself and the team.

I will post a follow up statement tomorrow.
