The Last Resort are here at CLUK after winning Sychosis LAN. Two stand-in players change the dynamic of the roster, Cadred catches up with Pez
So James, coming out of a first place finish last week at Sychosis, you must have been quite confident going into this event?
We were quite confident, but then only three of our players at Sychosis are playing today, but yeh, we are confident in the players we’ve got with us (caused and jakem)
When you saw your group fixtures, before playing any games, how did you feel about your early oppositions?
We recognised some of the teams that we’re playing against, such as Section9 and Core89, we knew the games were going to be tough, but we were confident of a first place finish in the group stages.
But then having walked all over simple-paradox in your first fixture, it all went wrong for you, losing 12-3 and 7-8 against Core89 – what went wrong?
We didn’t have any tactics, and had Matt whining about his FPS problems, because his PC was overheating. That said, they did smash us on their CT side, so we tried to bring back as many rounds as possible in the second half, but it wasn’t to be.
So your confidence must have taken a battering, but can you still top your group?
We hope Section9 will cause an upset by beating Core89, and we expect to win the rest of our games, so yeh, I’d say we have a good chance of winning our group. If not, it should be fun playing Zboard!
Final question before you run off to your next game – how are Jakem and Cauzed fitting into your side this event, and do you have any longer-term plans regarding your roster?
Jakem and cauzed are fitting in perfectly because they’re both experienced high-skilled players, and they’re high performing players as well. At the end of the day though, it is a mix, but we hope to finish top 3 anyway. Regarding the future roster, at the moment we only have myself, Matt, Ewaf and Goose, and we have several players lined up to play with us after this event.
Ok, thanks for the chat, I’m sure we’ll catch up with you later!
