CGS: World Finals Recap
@ CGS Season Two channel

As I sit in the airport for the next nine hours, with no internet as T-mobile decides to hate debit cards, I have a chance to reflect on two weeks of Championship Gaming Series and the close of the second season. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself, taken over 3000 pictures (most got deleted), done over 30 Audio interviews (They will be slowly going up over the next few weeks) and eaten at Subway 18 times. Before I give an in-depth reflection I'm going to quickly recap the season for those of you who haven't been following it.

Now that that's out of the way let's enjoy the aptly named "Goodeh Awards", where I finally get a chance to cast my discerning eye on the players and happenings of the last two weeks.

GOODEH AWARDS

Award Title Winner(s) Notes Prize Money
Tournament MVP Birmingham Salvo Forza

This was a tossup for me between these two and Ryan "Offbeat Ninja" Ward. At the end of the day this pair have won every single match, clutched the overtime against Berlin Allianz and generally been superb.

0
Biggest Under performer Alessandro "Stermy"Avalone I expected great things from Stermy before the finals. I'm as shocked as anyone to see him going winless with a minus four points differential. He simply didn't perform when it mattered. 0
Most Improved Livia "Liefje" Teernstra

Season one of CGS saw just two females turn up for the European draft, Livia was one of them. The same was true of the season two draft, yet Livia has turned from a female that plays Dead or Alive into a Dead or Alive player that is female. Superb results against Sophie "MISS" Breton, Vanessa and other players saw me praising a player I originally wrote off.

Other strong contenders for this award were Mingzhi "Messy" Deng and the Berlin Allianz Forza pair.

Best Interview Mark Dolven

I can only apologize profusely to Mark for not getting this up on time, it will still be going up albeit cut down with questions made invalid by time.

Mark is an intelligent, passionate and downright awesome General Manager, in a 40 minute interview he managed to convey to me exactly what makes him one of the best GM's in the CGS.

0
Best Match Birmingham Salvo vs. Berlin Allianz

I'm problably going to be lynched for not saying the Birmingham - Core match, but wow this match was crazy.

I'm not usually a huge fan of Forza, but no match in the CGS has ever had me on my feet shouting at the top of my voice before. For Berlin to pull through in the last corner and take the win to force it into overtime must rank among the best things I've ever seen in eSports.

0
Most Enthusiastic GM Augusto "NoobZaiBot" Zapata While all the GM's have immense enthusiasm no one carries themselves on stage like Augusto, his twirls during the Counter-Strike: Source win will forever remain in my memory. 0
Best Chef Craig Levine Ironically just as I was typing this Craig literally just walked into me at the airport, scary stuff. Thanks for the barbeque(s)! 0
Best Hair Milan "xertion" Vegeer Could it really be anyone else? Stermy came close to winning his second award but the Dutch won this battle. Note the award amount, he owes me money for a pizza. $-10

In the follow-up article to this I'll be evaluating all 8 world finals teams. Stay tuned!
