PCGS: OQ Rules Revealed
@ PC Gamer Showdown Qualifiers channel

The PCGamer Online Qualifiers are kicking off tonight.

Team Fortress 2 teams, benefited from the pushed back schedule and the latest rule update by Multiplay's Steve "Neophyte" Lynch, can clearly see what's coming to them.

Cadred.org is giving you a sneak preview of the official PCGamer Team Fortress 2 OQ rules:

  • The tournament will be played as double elimination.
  • The group stage is followed by an elimination stage. The top 2 teams from each group advance to the quarter-final
  • The winning team and the team that comes second in this tournament get free entry to the PC Gamer Showdown, and also get to skip the group stage at the LAN.
  • Servers for these qualification games will be hosted by Multiplay. In case of big ping differences, teams will be allowed to negotiate and pick a more suitable server.
  • Any roster changes need to be done by Neophyte and he must have the request 2 hours before the first match starts. Once a player has been substituted out, he may not be re-added. Mercenaries (Ringer) and non-approved players are strictly forbidden.
  • Mid-tournament roster changes must be given to Neophyte at least 24 hours before their next match.
  • A team may not under any circumstances substitute players during a match once it has begun.
  • Each team gets 1 wildcard to use to reschedule a match by exactly 24 hours. The wildcard has to be used 24 hours before the original match date and is to be submitted via support system, using the MH number 1234.
  • Matches will not be allowed to be rescheduled once the wildcard has been used.
  • Each match will consist of one map only, chosen by the tournament administrator. (Note: The maps currently shown on the Multiplay Tournament page aren't final yet!)
  • All kinds of scripts are forbidden! Simple aliases however (like weapon switch on a single button) are allowed. If you are unsure about one of your scripts, please contact Neophyte.
  • Official maps are: cp_well / cp_pro_granary / cp_gravelpit / ctf_turbine / cp_badlands / cp_fastlane
  • Gravelpit will be played with the default 2 rounds of stopwatch. In case of a draw (only in the elimination stage), a 3rd round will be played to decide the winner. All other maps will be played with the default time-limit of 30. In case of a draw in the elimination stage, the map will be restarted for golden cap (time-limit 0, first team to win the round wins the map).
  • Matches will be played with a class-limit of 2 and a Medic-/Demoman-limit of 1. All Pyro and Medic unlockables are allowed to be used.
  • The Final: The team coming through from the winner’s bracket only has to win 1 Map. The looser bracket team is required to win 2 maps. The map pool for the final will be cp_pro_granary, cp_badlands and cp_well. Both teams will choose one map with the team from the loser’s bracket selecting the first map.

Be advised: All teams should check their roster immediately and report any update to Neophyte. Also, if your team can't participate on the given week, don't hesitate to remove yourself from the tournament as alot of teams are waiting in line to join the Qualifier.
