CPL Brand Bought by un-named company
@ Scene news channel

A new press release posted a couple of hours ago on the CPL website claims that Angel Munoz's company, NewWorld.com Inc, has sold Cyberathlete Professional League to "an investment group based in the United Arab Emirates".

No name has been given for the company who has apparently bought the brand, and doubt has been cast around by staff of sk-gaming.com that this deal may be a fake, as the name of the spokesperson for the un-named company is Angela Summers, who, when googled, brings up results of a porn star from the 1990s.

Cadred's research however suggests that Ms Angela Summers is actually a member of the Institute of Public Relations who has been working for a Dubai-based advertising agency for almost four years.

Update: Cadred has been researching into this deal and can confirm this is not a fake. Having spoken to Ms Summers from her office in Dubai, she has confirmed that this is a legitimate deal, and we are waiting for more information from her office regarding the buyer.

Although Angela Summers has had links to Game Frontier in the past, a phone conversation with Jaffer Mir has revealed that they knew nothing of this takeover bid.

After lengthy research we have unearthed the buyer of the CPL brand, however due to current contractual agreements that the buyer is currently involved in, we will not yet reveal his identity.

What we can reveal is that we believe his involvement in CPL will be a big boost for the brand name, and could really turn CPL's fortunes around.

Ms Summers gave her statement for the press release:
We are planning to launch a new company which will be named "CPL, LLC" and will be headquartered in the United Arab Emirates. The new company will organise videogame tournaments worldwide.

The CPL is a globally recognised brand that has more history in the videogame industry than all other leagues combined. We look forward to reintroducing gamers to a better, larger and more exciting CPL.
Angel Munoz, who founded CPL in 1997, said:
This acquisition is just the kind of positive support that the international interactive entertainment industry needs. I look forward to seeing CPL continue under new management, adding further accolades to its history.
The accuracy of this announcement remains to be seen, but you can read the release for yourselves at theCPL.com.
