warclown talks Crossed
@ Spotlights channel

Although nothing has officially been announced, if you didn’t know that Crossed have split up, the chances are you’ve been under a rock for the past few months, or at the very least under a bed.

Cadred spoke to Simen “warclown” Aas Henriksen about what happened, and where he will go from there.

Hey Simen, there's only really one place to start this interview, and that's the folding of the old Crossed line-up. It has been common knowledge in the scene since TeX.dk, but nothing has officially been announced yet - tell me all about why that line-up of you, Leffa, XraeL, Proph and AirRaid decided to split up.

Good day! We decided to split up, not because of poor results, but because of how the chemistry in the team (both socially and in-game wise) worked. We were always split up into Norwegians(myself and Leffa), Brits (m4d4ms and XraeL) and Dutch (AirRaid and Proph) when we were doing other stuff than playing. I and Leffa also lived with Proph for a couple of weeks, and already at his house we started getting on each other's nerves.

It was surprising, really, because I’ve always gotten along great with Proph online. But when you shack up with someone you do tend to step on a couple of toes. I don’t really want to go into any more details, as some of the main reasons to why we split up was what happened during tex.dk and during the bootcamp before.

In short terms; we didn't really get along, and we had different opinions on how a team should train and communicate.

As an organisation, will we be seeing Crossed with another line-up, and if so who will be running that organisation?

The Crossed Gaming organisation will probably go active again, pretty much more like a team name than an organisation. It will be run by myself and the other original owners of Crossed. I do not know what m4d4ms plans are, but I hope he will keep on supporting a team, as he is a supportive manager who keeps his word, and checks up on his team. Which team is up to him! But I wish him luck in whatever decision he makes.

While you remain in control of the Crossed name, it would seem a likely move for you to play under that name again in the future (as had been thought would happen back when the first signs of a split-up showed up, back in Denmark), but you've since told me you'd rather not go through the process of creating a new line-up again, preferring just to slide into a current team - might we see you back playing for Crossed?

Quite an interesting question Corin, but unfortunately no exciting answer for you this time! As I've earlier stated to you, I want to join a team that already have financial backing and players already decided. It’s much easier for me to slide in with four guys who already have setups and all the basics covered, than to first find four players that MIGHT go good together socially and in-game wise.

And then, if I am lucky enough to find those four individuals, we will have to find an organisation with the right backing. Which is not easy as all the good organisations already got CSS teams (afaik). I’m not denying the possibility of me making a new team, but I would much prefer to join an already established team with backing. I have some offers already, and they are under consideration.

One of the offers is actually a new team! So hopefully it won’t be long till I join a team!

Currently you're playing in Norwegian mix-team Alchemists, with several players who have been tipped as being your future team-mates in the past month or so, including Leffa (from crossed) and gem (from Multigamer.no) - what are the plans within this mix-team, for both yourself and the other players in it?

The plan is to play in the Norwegian league Hellfragger. Because the playoffs are broadcasted on NRK (which is the main national TV channel in Norway), there's quite a lot of hype around it.

About my 'new' team, I don’t know if it will be with either Leffa or gem. Because I live with Leffa, it might produce conflicts having to live with a guy you go to school with, and hang around with, and drink with.. and then practice 4 hours a night with.

And I’m not sure about gem's plans at the moment, as he has been a bit uncertain about his future in css over the last couple of weeks. After being in crossed for over a year, then in multigamer for almost two years - it must feel good to be clanless for a while. But hopefully he will get his motivation back and ready to kick ass soon, as I’ve stated before: I would love to play with him again.

Can you confirm for us that Leffa, who you live with, is more than just a friend?

Oh god, I don’t know how your journalist abilities managed to get into my head and get that information. But yes, I can confirm that me and Leffa are currently dating and looking for a bigger house for all of our children and aunts.

Actually I didn't have to get into your head, it was obvious from the way you hugged him at TeX! Back onto more serious topics, and indeed to my last question for you, what sort of timescale are you looking at for getting a new team, are there any events you want to attend and have become deadlines for you?

I want a team as soon as possible, but that doesn’t mean I will join a team I don’t believe in - just to get to attend an event. Even though I REALLY want to go to PCGS, my main priority is to get a team before i35 so I can go there. Not only for the tournament, but also to meet up with old friends and check out the new venue!

Well that concludes this interview, thanks for your time Simen, and I'm sure we'll see you at another event soon!
