Warhammer Online
@ Blog channel channel

There are times when a certain game comes along and you just know its going to be big. Warhammer Online has been going through its beta stages and on September 18th the game will finally go live. World of Warcraft has held a death grip on the MMORPG scene for years, and for the first time a real contender has entered the ring.

Games Workshop have been in the fantasy gaming business since 1983, and behind every race and career is an in-depth history and highly detailed concept art. The game of Warhammer Online has always been there, just waiting to be made. You choose to be good or evil, Order or Destruction, and have the choice of six different races (three per side). Each race has an impressive range of customisation options, 20 different careers (3/4 per race), and a multitude of professions. There is actually something for everybody. The environment is really well made, the best graphics are yet to be seen until the game goes live, but it already puts WOW to shame. Each area is a constant battle zone as NPCs take on NPCs creating a real atmosphere of the everlasting war. They already have the next two years of content planned, as well as a full expansion.

WAR is a PVP based MMORPG, and you get straight into the action from level 1. In a break from the norm XP and gold can be earned from PVP, so whether you're into PVE or PVP theres a game for you to play. For kills, captures and wins you earn Renown points and increase your Renown Rank. This entitles you access to stronger weapons and armor. The level cap is set at 40, and the Renown Ranks are capped at 80. Games Workshop's twenty years of experience means that the storyline is rich with content, and it doesn't feel like such a grind to level up.

Already dubbed as the "WOW Killer" the game looks to have a promising future as both a casual and competitive game. In an effort to consolidate the WARing Cadred community we've decided to select a server and we encourage you to play there. The game will be more fun if everyones playing on the same server, and so far the general feeling is that everyone wants to play on the same server as everyone else, and doesn't really mind. Hopefully this should help organise everyone.

The server is going to be Eltharion, its an Open Realm vs Realm server (similar to WOW's PVP servers). We've set up a channel for the server, #eltharion on Quakenet. People are going to roll Order or Destruction as they see fit or as their close friends do, post what you / your friends are doing below as it might help the undecided.
