PCGS: rzE Interviewed
@ PC Gamer Showdown - CoD4 channel

Reason-Gaming, one of two big teams present at the event. They have also had some big lineup changes on the back of the Summer LANs. But now they look like they have a reasonably stable one. Will they be able to break through the language barriers? I managed to have a chat to rzE, the team captain, about various aspects of PCGS and CoD4 as a whole.

After conducting the interview, I was intrigued to see that rzE's opinion greatly differed from the BlackManes. I am not sure where BlackMane got his sources about Reason training constantly, but rzE had something else to say about it.

rzE, PCGS, what are your first impressions?

Its a bit smaller than I thought it would be, but it looks like it could be quite fun. Everyones entering into all the tournaments. Just looking forward to the games. Going to be good fun i think

From my point of view it’s a 2 team competition (for the first place at least), you vs Dignitas. How confident do you think you are?

I think its going to be quite a close game. I don’t think they have had that much time to practice. We have been working hard on our communication, but haven’t had time to practice much last week. So could be close.

Dignitas called you “the biggest geek team” for actually training hard for this event. That a fair comment?

Not really, considering Eplotic played for just 1 hour last week because he had a final year exam at school

They also said you were going to suffer from a lack of communication within the team. Is this going to be an issue in your opinion?

No there aren’t many issues with it. The 2 Fins are just as good as English as anyone else. Actually I can understand them better than I can lighters with his Newcastle accent! RaigeKi is the only one who struggles sometimes, getting names confused occasionally. It makes me laugh though and he is improving.

Anyone else you are slightly concerned about from the signups?

The Dignitas mix, Dignfused, could be all right. As for the rest... Salvo? played mixes against them before, none of them were any good so it should be easy.

You are going to be avoiding the group stages as you came 2nd in the online qualifiers. Infused aren’t here in full so they won’t be following you. Is this a good thing? Or would you have preferred a few warm up games?

Not really, we would have preferred to play the group stages, it’s more practice and a better chance to warmup.

The news about Fnatic not turning has filtered down. Are you sorry they haven’t turned up or is there a part of you that is quite glad as it makes the top prizes look even more likely?

For the money side it definitely is better, but it would have been nice to have a better competition, better teams to play. Would have been better for CoD4 as a whole.

Why have such a few number of teams actually turned up to an event where frankly, there is quite a bit of prize money on offer?

There have been a lot of lineup changes after the summer LANs. It is also quite a small LAN that has little advertising on CoD4 sites. A lot of teams have lost motivation to play too.

Will this streak continue into any of the other LANs this autumn or do you think they’ll pickup?

It will pick up. Teams will get bored and being to play more. The European teams will also start playing I am sure.

Will you be at any of them?

We hope to be going to all of them. GamerLand is the only doubt for now, as we haven’t heard that much about it. We are definitely interested in it though.

CoD5 is just around the corner, is it going to be a natural progression for Reason?

Depends how the LANs go. If competitions appear then yeah definitely. If the money transfers over to the CoD5 in the tournaments then we won’t have a choice. The money will only go there if the game is good though. As for the game itself, it could go either way, either the best CoD game ever, or the worse. It could be either way. Either be the best or the worse.

Thank you very much rzE and we wish you best of luck in the competition.
