PCGS: Talking with AppZ
@ PC Gamer Showdown - TF2 channel

The upper bracket final for the PC Gamer showdown is here. It will be played out between Four Kings and Team Cooler Master on the map ctf_turbine. Whoever wins this will secure a place in the Grand Final tomorrow; the loser will have to fight his way through the lower bracket.

Last time these two teams met was at the ClanBase final a week or so ago. Interestingly enough the game was played on ctf_turbine, the same map for the game tonight, with a result of 6-5 to Four Kings. I took up a few minutes of Kirk “AppZ” Preston’s time to ask him a few questions.

How was the last game on cp_pro_granary versus Crack! (former Interrobang)?

We did alright yeah, winning 3-1. Both teams played well, it was an especially good match as our teamwork really came together. It was an important win as this will give us lots of confidence for our upcoming match against Four Kings.

How are you feeling about the upcoming match?

Yeah I feel ready for 4kings. As I said winning like that vs. Crack! brings a lot of confidence for us.

What about the pick of map, how do you feel about playing on ctf_turbine?

I would personally say it’s our strongest map, last time we played 4kings on turbine we lost by only one point, which was capped in the last 5 seconds of play. This time we will be playing better, our teamwork will be stronger too.

Is there any particular player or tactic you think you are going to have to be wary of in this game?

I would say Mick is going to be the hardest thing on turbine. When he’s on form his sniping is very good, and the same goes for his Soldiering – if he’s put the preparation and practice in he’s going to be difficult.

How have you prepared for the event?

Well, in the month leading up to the game, we weren’t playing particularly well and our enthusiasm kind of lacked. In the last week we started putting a bit more effort in, doing a lot more practice and really taking the time to re-discuss tactics and so on.

Thanks for taking the time to speak to me Kirk, good luck versus Four Kings.
