Updated: TLR.TF2 folded!
@ Scene news channel

The Last Resort's Team Fortress 2 team has recently been in the scene news quite a lot. They seem to have some player problems after their former leader Wlv left the team to search for a new team. Now the rumour even goes that the team will soon fold.

I took the opportunity to ask some involved players a few questions about the current problems TLR has. TLR|Arx and former TLR player Wlv shared their view on the situation with us.

Wlv, your former teamleader, recently announced his departure from The Last Resort. How did the team respond to this message? Who has taken over Wlv's tasks?

Keith "Arx" Nichols' answer:
"I'm sure a few of the members of the team were quite shocked when he announced that he was leaving, but the reasons were quite clear. Leading a team takes up a lot of your free time and can be very stressful. I think he just wanted a change of scene. As of right now, I think by default, I have taken over leadership of the team though I'm sure the other members will help me out with certain tasks.”

Now only a couple of days ago Darn, one of your soldiers, has been spotted trialing with Four Kings. How do you feel about this? Have you discussed this within the team?

Keith "Arx" Nichols' answer:
"Because of the state the team is currently in, I've given everyone the opportunity to leave and trial for someone else if they wish. I've said good luck to all of the players that are currently trialing for other teams. If they don't find a home, they are welcome to join me in a rebuild of the team. If they do leave, I will look for new players. A few of us even spectated the match to watch the trials. We are still all friends and will be even if we aren't in the same team.”

Do you think it will be necessary for TLR to drop from any competitions, or will you keep playing? In how much time do you plan to rebuild the team?

Keith "Arx" Nichols' answer:
"We almost certainly will have to give defaults or drop a couple of competitions over the next couple of weeks while we rebuild. We will still be playing when we can pull together a team though. As for a rebuild of the team, I have something large instore ;p This could take a few weeks to complete allthough the community might find out some of it in the near future.”

What are the current open spots in your roster, what players are you looking for and where can they line up? :)

Keith "Arx" Nichols' answer:
" This part is complicated. We definately have an open spot for a medic at the moment, that one is for sure. The rest of the spots depend on which members want to stay, leave and which ones I will kick. I didn't recruit the current team, so I will be looking into all my options and I will try to create the strongest team possible.”

Thanks a lot for answering my questions TLR|Arx! Afterwards I also had a small chat with Wlv about his departure and his future. This is what he had to say:

Hey Wlv! You have recently announced your departure from TLR.TF2. How long have you been thinking about this and what made you take the decision last thursday?

Rob "Wlv" Rendle's answer:
"For quite a long time now I've been loosing the interest of running the team, I was getting home from work at about 1800GMT and almost instantly joining IRC and setting things up for the evening, then pcw'ing and doing "admin" stuff all the way through to 00:00 BST. There are many reasons why I left the team, although none of them are due to the players there, they are all great people and I've really enjoyed the experience of working/playing with them.”

What do you think about the state TLR seems to be in now? Do you think they will manage to stay alive or do you expect them to fold soon?

Rob "Wlv" Rendle's answer:
"Well, they have some fantastic players, Arx, Beta, Itchi, phL, Shifty, zerox are all more than capable of carrying the team forward. However I am not 100% sure they will stay with the organisation (TLR) and I am quite certain a few of the players want to play as different classes. Considering this, I don't think they will fold as such, but I wouldn't be suprised if they appeared under a different name.”

Now about yourself.. Have you already received interesting offers from teams, can we expect something big in the future from you?

Rob "Wlv" Rendle's answer:
"Well I've spent the last 2 nights trialing for 4kings and practicing to trial for 4kings, whilst it's still undecided who and what class they will pick up. Other than that, I've had 3 or 4 offers from lower division teams.”

Some while ago you started a topic on ETF2L's forum about an upcoming TLR LAN in The Netherlands. Has the base for this LAN been set up by now and can we expect an official announcement about this in the near future?

Rob "Wlv" Rendle's answer:
"Not much has been done with it yet, I did ask the TLR management about the idea when I left and it seems they are still happy to discuss the idea futher, the response from the ETF2L thread was fantastic and it would be a shame to miss out on something that holds huge potential.”

Tuesday October 7th, 08:20, Update:
It seems Wlv was right when he mentioned that we could expect the team to continue under another flag. Arx just confirmed that they have no intention of playing under the TLR tag any longer and the manager of TLR has saved them the trouble of leaving by dropping the team. TLR.TF2 no longer exists, more updates will follow.
