TLR move to Four Kings
@ Scene news channel

Four Kings has gone back to British roots with the pickup of the almost all UK Counter-Strike: Source line-up, The Last Resort.

The most recent Swedish source line-up for Four Kings never officially folded, but have been “inactive” for quite some time. Four Kings General Manager Ian “Javax” Leckey revealed to Cadred today that the team actually folded a while ago and the players have gone their separate ways. We’ll have more on what the individual members of the old team are doing at a later date.

The Last Resort had a successful i35; placing 5th/6th and we recently interviewed Carlos “Dumbazo” Garcia, when asked about future plans for the team he said “some surprises coming soon”, he was obviously referring to this move.

General Manager Ian “Javax” Leckey gave the following statement;

With the recent inactivity and subsequent folding of our Swedish line-up, we felt it necessary to introduce a new team to fly the 4Kings flag in Counter-Strike: Source.

We've taken the decision to re-invest in the UK scene once again with one of the most promising line-ups around, TLR. The team will be representing 4Kings in the ESL Pro Series UK, with their first real challenge coming against Fragmasters Toxic on the 19th.

An unfortunate innocent victim of the move is The Last Resort manager Michael “Chef” Robinson whose quest to find a team that stays with him for two consecutive I-series events seems destined to go on, Michael declined to comment on the move.

We spoke to James “Pez” Perrot for more on the move.

Hey James [Pez], so how did the move to four kings come about?

Hi max, we were talking to them after we decided we were leaving eMg but only on a small scale. We then heard about TLR.css folding so we joined the ranks for i35 as we never thought that the opportunity of 4Kings.css would surface. But after our performance at LAN, 4Kings and I started having much advanced talks and after bits and bobs were cleared up it’s a huge honour for me and the lads to be playing under the 4Kings banner.

You're bound to receive your fair share of flak from people deeming you "not matching up" to previous four kings CSS line-ups, what do you say to the critics?

As expected it's going to be hard to live up to the reputation of teams before us, but this gives us the motivation to train harder and get to the level of the former teams and beyond.

Yet again the guy losing out in all of this seems to The Last Resort and its manager, Michael Chef Robinson. Do you have anything to say to him after having another successful I-series with him followed by an organisation change?

As I said before we never thought we were going to play as well as we did at i35, therefore we thought the opportunity of 4Kings wouldn't come around. But we played well and this opportunity has gone from a dream to a reality. Concerning TLR, obviously it's annoying to leave it behind (again!) as it's the first organisation that really made me into a good player with good players at i32 and before. It's run by one of the nicest managers & people big Mike "Chefinal" Robinson who deserves all the credit he gets. I know Mike has big plans for '09 so the team that joins them (Hopefully the return of Matt "L@TeRz" Carrier & Nayden) is going to have a great time in the ranks of TLR, but for us we have our dreams and hopes pinned on 4Kings.

What are the team’s plans over the next few months?

The main focus is beating Toxic next week in EPS, Wednesday 19th @ 21:00GMT!! Then the EPS LAN Finals is the biggest priority after as I don't know a lot of LANs that are arranged. But obviously the usual LAN79/TeX/i36 are all plans but quite a while away. But for the time being, hardcore keen practise, toxic, EPS LAN finals are the plans for the next few months.

Thanks for your time, good luck in Four Kings.
