The CGS Pro-Am TF2 final was played late last night between Pandemic and eMazing Gaming (formerly known as Eximius). The final was played as best of three on badlands, granary and gravelpit. Pandemic managed to win badlands 5-4 but eMg turned the tide on granary. After a 3-3 tie, this round went to overtime and eMg was able to score the important map win with a golden cap.
The deciding round was played on gravelpit, a map where North-American teams are known to excel. Pandemic started strong and captured all three points in less than four minutes. This left eMg with nearly impossible task to win the first round and Pandemic easily defended the time that was required from them.
In the deciding round, eMg started the attack but they struggled again and it took them over eight minutes to capture the final point C. This left Pandemic in a very strong position but eMg was defending with their backs against the wall and they prolonged the game for a long time. For a moment it looked like eMg would be able to defend this round. Pandemic rounded up their last strong offensive to C with just one minute left on the clock. It seemed that eMg managed to defend against this push as well when only oPlaiD was left alive from Pandemic and he was against a medic and a soldier on the C tower. However, he was able to sneak up unnoticed where he killed both remaining players from eMg and scored the 2-0 map victory for Pandemic with just 15 seconds left on the clock. This meant that Pandemic had won the match 2-1 and was crowned as the CGS Pro-Am TF2 champions.

I interviewed Pandemic's TF2-squad captain Samuel "oPlaiD" Lingle right after their victory.
Congratulations! How are you feeling after that close match?
We've won so many it feels like just another day! Really, though, we've had plenty of epic finals, like against 20id in CEVO Season 1 and even eMg at Nvision, but this one definitely topped them all. They played a great game against us and it was close in all regards. It's a great feeling that we still havn't lost a final with under 120 ping despite all the great competition we've faced.
Can you think of any particular key moments to watch from this Pro-Am final? I'd imagine that many people will want to see the STV demos.
In such a close match every moment is important, so there isn't much to say except watch the demo! You can also get the match vod on thecgs.com; I heard a lot of good things about the production value and casting of their live broadcast.
In your opinion, was the CGS TF2 Pro-Am was a successful league? Do you think that CGS will continue supporting TF2 after this?
The Pro-Am was ran by CEVO admins, so it wasn't anything too different than what we'd experienced before - except that it had a $5,000 cash first prize, a bit more than the fatal1ty ram CEVO is currently offering! I've talked to a few people around CGS, and they all seem happy with how TF2 has worked out in the ProAm, so I expect it to be included in future seasons, and possibly at some individual LANs like the Combine or an exhibition during their CGS World Finals. It's unlikely it would be used as a full CGS game, so don't get your hopes up too high, but it's safe to say it'll stick around.
Thank you oPlaiD. Congratulations again and good luck to CEVO and EMS.
The SourceTV demos and VoD from the cast will be available on the CGS website later.
