January's Top10 CSS Teams
@ Spotlights channel

The new Cadred Top ten Eleven is back for Counter-Strike: Source in January.

We've kept exactly the same rules and regulations; Fifteen votes will go into each month's rankings, ten of which are from the previous month's top ten teams, and five of which are from our panel members, who will vote every month.

The points system remains simple: a first place vote earns that team 10 points, 9 points are awarded for second place, and so on.

On page two you can read who the panel members are, and see their thoughts and opinions on this month's rankings

Tom "DuRuS" Nevill

Tom has been writing about eSports in some shape or form for over 2 years now, and has been the CoD4 Editor at Cadred for a little over 4 months.

Having previously been the Editor-in-Chief of ClanBase, he has a lot of experience with online and offline journalism. Now he is focusing his attention on the CoD scene.

He is renowned for his full and detailed interviews, as well as the time and effort he puts into all of his articles.

"This month has seen Dignitas reinstate their position at the top of the CoD4 scene, after beating ButtonBashers in the EMS finals, and seeing off all other opposition in the EPS UK finals. For me they deserve their place at the top of the leaderboard.

fnatic have yet to really show what they could do in Europe, but from their results in the Gotfrag CoD4 tournament against the NA teams, they have proven to me that they are worthy of a spot near the top.

The other problem I had was with the Reason lineup. They have just formed their new lineup, and it looks like it has a huge amount of potential for the future. The question is if they will be able to work together, so for now I have placed them further down the table. "

Stuart "TosspoT" Saw

Stuart has been a Director of QuadV, the online video broadcasting company, since it formed in early 2007, and recently became the Director of eSports for Heaven Media.

As the man behind Crossfire.nu, and the Crossfire Challenge events, Stuart has had more than his fair shair of involvement in the Call of Duty community, and has, in his own words, "shoutcasted more CoD LAN's than Jesus gets mentions in the bible".

"Dignitas' performance at ESL UK was reason enough to put them in the top slot, they were above and beyond all the competition that weekend and it will take a very organised team to rise enough to beat them.TCM's new lineup is good, I expect some good showings from that team should they stick together."

Camiel "Jetset" Rietbergen

Jetset, a 22 year old Dutch student currently in his final year of his bachelor studies, has been part of one of the biggest CoD portals since early 2005.

As the current director of content for Tek-9, he has put hours of time and effort into the CoD scene, giving it the attention it needed.

As one of the most highly respected journalists in the CoD scene, he certainly knows who the top teams are.

"Despite the few online and offline competitions, quite a lot changed in the last month with 6 teams of the January top 10 changing their line-ups. With Reason Gaming presenting their renewed line-up, , Tempus Moriendi replacing two main starters and the French crack! clan line-up reforming under a different name, it has become increasingly difficult to base my ranking on lan results alone and I've started to take a team's potential into account.

The top3 remains unchanged despite two teams changing their rosters, with Button Bashers placing first followed by Dignitas and crack! clan (Exabyte). After this it becomes tricky, with several teams undergoing line-up changes and no real official competitions to see them in action. Due to the recent changes, Reason have dropped one place in my list, while fnatic and TCM make their appearance and eSuba move up a spot following their EuroCup victory."

Rob "Morg" Black

Rob is in Team Dignitas where he helps in the running of the highly successful CoD4 team.

He has an influential role in the scene having been involved with a multitude of things within the scene; From running the first CoD4 tournament in the world to pioneering the concept and integration of Promod.

As one of the most respected members of the CoD4 scene, you can be assured he knows a thing or two about all the big teams around.

" An interesting two month period in CoD4 has just come to a close. The winter months along with mod issues have seen a lot of teams putting in far less time to the game. However a flurry in tournament announcements has certainly shifted people into gear.

Team Dignitas are certianly the on form team right now im major competitions and take a deserved first place. Button Bashers are not far behind and will be looking to take back the top spot next month for sure, with a lack of competitions coming up for them other than Ukesa results it may prove tricky.

eSuba have had a good month with a string of good results, all be it online, and possibly deserve to be higher placed. fnatics placing of 3rd is somewhat high as they have yet to challange against the big boys of europe in official competition. I expect a lot of moving and shaking from this months placings to the next, which will give us a bit more of a realistic top ten. "

Leigh "Deman" Smith

Deman is one of the leading Call of Duty 4 broadcasters with QuadV covering the majority of LAN events since it's release. Nevertheless he is still totally clueless when it comes to predicting a winner as has been proven countless times!

When not talking nonsense into a microphone he is usually found with the Kop Faithful following Liverpool FC home and away or losing yet another game of Supreme Commander.

"The EMS Finals and ESL UK Finals showed me that Dignitas despite being inactive in training still have what it takes when it comes to the crunch when all members show up. I thought ButtonBashers would show more in the EMS Finals on Strike but they just rolled over so badly in what was a very disappointing match.

The UKeSA will maybe shake things up a little and with Assembly happening this weekend we will see how good the Fnatic line up is as they really should be winning that event."

You'll be able to catch more thoughts from our panel with Cadred's March Rankings in a month's time!

Due to holiday committments, Joe was not able to take part in this month's top 10, so as you can see Morg has stepped in and has done a great job. Next month we hope to bring Joe back.
