EMS: Dignitas win CoD4
@ ESL Major Series Season 3 channel

A somewhat imbalanced final with each team defeating the other on one map, in convincing fashion, sees Dignitas take the European crown.

The maps for the final were Crossfire chosen by Button Bashers and Strike chosen by Dignitas. Since Button Bashers were coming up from the lower bracket, following defeat against Dignitas on District in the semi-final, they would need two maps and Dignitas only one to win.

The first map was Crossfire which started 20 minutes late with LookZor not playing and Dignitas using ex-ATS player D1ablo. Some decidedly poor play from Dignitas followed, not to underestimate some great play from Button Bashers. The shape of the map makes snipers obviously important and Stevy really proved this supporting his team. Dignitas sniper Blackmane failed to counter this showing obvious lack of practise in the game, coming out with some of his much loved rage just a few rounds in to the game.

Dignitas only managed to pick up 3 rounds as defence and gave little challenge as attack, giving a 13-4 end score. Button Bashers were clearly dominating at this point with huge amounts of confidence. Where as Dignitas were unable to get a grasp on the match and silly mistakes, such as failing to get a clear shot on a defuser, cost them rounds.

This led the teams into a third map Strike which the winner of would win the EMS. LoOkZor played in this map, taking his place from D1ablo- after apparently believing that the game started at 21:00 its CET time.

The change obviously inspired the team leading to a complete reversal of roles as it was Dignitas, headed by Blackmane who dominated this map. Dignitas took a quick first few rounds as defence showing impressive individual skill achieving a four on two and a quick fire 3 man from SoCLon. Dignitas eventually followed it through to win the map 13-3 and claim their €1500.

After the game Button Bashers Svo said

Well it was a weird game with both teams dominating each other on their own map. Guess you could see that both teams didn't play at all for a while. We are disappointed a bit cause we know we could've won this game if we had put some time in it. Well played by everyone and cya next time!

Dignitas Mark added

We are very happy with our win, with the first map antics of having a merc and our teamwork being generally sub par, a half time talk and a screaming from odee sorted things out and we won;D Showing that we have what it takes to be the best!

The clear fact that came through from this was lack of practise from both teams, which Svo admits to. I would even risk saying they do not care for the game any more. Not so much as in match effort or anything to do with LoOkZor's late arrival. There is just no interest in the game at the moment, no inspiration to keep playing so insistently and repetitively, just for the game, for the fun or for the events.
