We caught up with Hamza “X” Mahmood of Vitriolic Gaming after their loss to Fragmasters Toxic.
So X, let’s first talk about the interview before the game with KritikaL, can you not let the past be the past?
The past can be the past, but at the end of the day Luke’s being a c**t to just about everyone except the people he loves and the people he doesn’t get along with he flames them and chats shit all the time. Someone’s going to have to step up and put him in his place.
Don’t you think by threatening to “put him in his place” you could turn off the sponsors that make this kind of thing possible when they see the “eSports scene” in such negative light?
At the end of the day EPS Germany everyone is really nice to each other, they’re amicable and gracious. The UK is much different, the UK source scene is known for being less than nice to other countries. By making my stand at Luke it will prove that the UK doesn’t give a shit about what you do or where you come from.
So on to the game, inferno started off pretty disastrously for your team, what went wrong?
I went 0-9 CT side; I’ll put it down to being on the stage for the first time and playing in front of loads of people. After I got to grips with what’s happening around me, T half I stepped my game up and started pulling off decent shots. As far as the team is concerned we haven’t been practising at all, we’ve only played 3 games since beating LTD 2k8. That could also contribute to us failing that bad on inferno.
Dust 2 was better, did you ever think you could win or after inferno were your heads too far down?
We actually did because we knew that dust2 was a more balanced map and that since getting to grips with the equipment we could pull off better shots. For me dust2 was my best game against Toxic. As for the team the team came together at the start to win the pistol round on T side and that made the game more competitive.
Before the game everyone claims confidence, did you really think you could beat such experienced players?
Yea, at the CGS combine 2008 it didn’t show that those players can actually play if a good source player comes up and challenges them. My old team took them into overtime on the final map then lost.
What do you do after EPS, do you stay with this team for season 2?
Most probably.
Lastly, what would it take for you to forgive KritikaL?
Him to come up to me and say sorry, and then I’d punch him.
