European Nations Championship 2009

The Roman poet Horace may have written "Dulce et decorum est pro patria mori" (It is sweet and honourable to die for one's country) but the players in this years European Nations Championship will be looking to have a slightly better K/D ratio than the classics, as they attempt to win this tournament for their country.

Ahead of the summer LAN season, inter-team differences will have to be set aside as the best players of each country come together in the quest for international glory.

Group A

The first of the 2 groups in this years ENC contains the lions share of western European countries.
The UK have a strong team with 4 members of Dignitas and 3 Reason players lining out. TCM players make up the rest of the 9 man squad. With this large representation from the top two ranked teams in Europe, the UK should have the means to give some strong performances.
Finland, drawing 2 players from 2 g00d f0r LAN, will be hoping that 2G4L's storming online performances will carry over to the ENC, hopefully assuring them of a well placed *cough* finish.
Portugal are mostly comprised of noProfile players, who will be in great form after a solid win over eSuba in the CB EuroCup lately. They will be hoping that this ability to cause upsets will continue into this competition.
Sweden, with the majority of Fnatic on their side, will be hoping to give a strong performance in Group A.
France utilising a H2k/Giants combination will be looking for some good matches after an alright performance from both at LAN79. Players from oxmoze and Against all authority make up the rest of the squad.
Last but not least, Poland with 3 from Tempus Moriendi and Vacuum will be looking to do themselves justice as the sole eastern European team in the group.

Group B

Clanbase NationsCup winners Croatia will be hoping to snag another international trophy in the ENC.
They will be facing still competition from the Netherlands who have 2 YoYoTech Dragons and 5 members of TheImperial lining out for them, not to mention robyYE.
Spain will be looking for a good result, no doubt looking to parrallel the national football team in European success.
Hungary are also in this group, looking no doubt for a strong showing from the national team.
Ukraine, who beat a strong Belgium side, will be hoping to continue their internatinal success so far in the rest of the tournament.
Finally Germany, with members from choZen and Team Bavarian-Heaven lining out, who will be looking to progress further and impress with a strong squad.
