EPS UK: Week 11 + Outcomes
@ ESL Pro Series UK season 2 CS:S channel

After 10 weeks of high quality action interspursed with copious amounts of controversy and quite a few weeks of confusion regarding what was actually happening in the scene, we have reached the final week of the online season.

Yep, we finally made it...well 9 teams did. And by did I mean 5 of those were reduced to mix teams while a further one never claimed to be anything other than a mix team. As a result it leaves me with only 2 matches to talk about, what a shame.

Here are Weeks 11's Matches

EPS wouldn't be EPS if there wasn't some drama attached to it. Last week we saw the horrific sight of people enjoying themselves in a game televised on ESL TV. After being told they were unable to make alterations to their roster Team CoolerMaster were forced to field a mix against Crack Clan, so they approached the ESL TV team and asked them not to televise their match as they didn't intend to take it seriously. However, ESL went ahead with the coverage and then were offended when the team proceeded to "piss about" and teamkill/attack each other. No such problems this week however, CoolerMaster have already played their game for this week. They did so halfway through the season at the previous Intel Friday Night Game, just before LAN79.

Dignitas vs Crack Clan
This, like last week, has all the hallmarks of a very dour game. Both teams will be participating as a mix and both have already qualified for the LAN finals. However, I will humour you with a form guide with regards the two teams. Inferno has been played twice already in this season's EPS. In the first week Dignitas edged Veritas 16-14 while Crack Clan beat noREPLY 16-10. While in week 6 Dignitas again edged past lesser competion, beating imperial 16-13 and Crack Clan destroyed i love myself 16-2. During the Area51 Challenge at Gadget Show Live the two teams met twice, once on de_dust2 and once on de_inferno, both times resulting in a Crack Clan win (16-6 and 16-8 respectively). As I say, neither team has anything to play for, both have qualified and neither are still a team. However, I expect Crack Clan will roll out winners in this match.

The Last Resort.. vs Frustration
rumblings abound about TLR for the past week or so- reverting back to the state we were in a few weeks ago - I can't really comment on whats not been publically released, but no doubt by thursday more information will be about. Back to matters of the now though, TLR currently have the prized position of 4th place, and a win vs Frustration combined with a defeat of noREPLY by imperial would see them secure their place in the LAN finals. All the while making the Intel Friday Night Game a dead rubber. Ofcourse this isn't what we want to see and I don't think we will. I can't see anything other than a TLR victory. Frustration only have 1 win to their name this season and that came against their companions at the bottom of the table (imperial.Lime). Also, Frustration have already been smashed on this map twice this season, 22-8 and 16-7, against Crack Clan and noREPLY respectively. Meanwhile, TLR (at the time called ZEN) opened their season with a draw vs Fragmasters Toxic, that said only 2 members of TLR remain from that opening fixture. I predict that this match will end 16-11 in favour of TLR, though the score could be much worse should TLR start CT.

This is how things currently stand

Those Still In The Frame

FragMasters TOXIC

FM Toxic are all but through, however it is still mathematically possible for them to be ousted by TLR and noREPLY. Their only game remaining is against noREPLY and were they to win this they would guarentee their place in the finals. A loss however could lead to nervous times and it could all boil down to noREPLY and TLR's ability to win their other games. If this happens FM.Toxic will be out as TLR will have a superior points total, and noREPLY will edge past them due to their head-to-head results

The Last Resort...

TLR are also masters of their own destiny. 2 wins out of their 2 remaining matches would see them qualify as the 3rd place team. A similar outcome could be achieved if they were to lose one of their remaining matches, PROVIDED noREPLY also lost one of their matches. Simply put, TLR need to equal or better noREPLY's results in the 2 remaining fixtures to see them progress, unless they and noREPLY lose both, which would result in YoYoTech going through.

noREPLY

As I explained above, 2 wins, including a 16-10 or better victory over FM.TOXIC will guarentee noREPLY a berth in the finals. Should they win by a smaller margin, it will boil down to how big their winning margin is vs imperial (to qualify ahead of FM.Toxic) or how many points TLR manage to pick up in the same time period. If they only win 1 game it gets really messy. 1 win would take them above TLR should they lose both their games, however, it would then boil down to round difference vs YoYoTech who would have beaten TLR and moved onto the same number of points as noREPLY.

YoYoTech

YoYoTech are the dark horses of the run in. For them to qualify they require TLR to lose vs Frustration this week, and then for noREPLY to lose at least 1 of their remaining games. Should noREPLY lose only 1 game it would come down to round difference as YoYoTech and noREPLY drew right at the begining of the season. YoYoTech currently have a negative round difference while noREPLY have +13 so the probabilities are high that noREPLY would progress in this situation. However should noREPLY lose to both FM.TOXIC and imperial.Lime and TLR lose to frustration, a win would take them through to the finals.
