IFNG #2 CoD4 Match Recap

Having watched the game on the stream, I wrote a brief recap of the match between Team Dignitas and The All Star YoYoTech mix. It was a reasonable game and worth a read.

The CoD4 game at tonight's IFNG is now over and done, and an interesting game it was. It all started off with the typical cringe worthy moments from zalmah, with Rooster changes and O - D - E to name just a few. But soon Joe kicked the game off, (only once he had shown Matt how to press the ready up key!).

Dignitas without Mick and Zaccubus in place of him took the early lead and were looking very strong attacking on Crash. But in the 3rd round, the All Stars finally managed to get a round on the board. As expected, this game was definitely not a LAN final. There were no massive set attacks at all, but rather the shotguns were coming out.

Soon the All Stars managed to make their way up the scoreboard, and got a massive 8 rounds on the board! D1ablo with the scope was looking distinctly average. However, according to our trusty commentators, or at least one of them, D1ablo is now a "notorious sniper on the UK scene". I am sure kAMMYz will be more than happy to give the scope up at Saturday's UKeSA grand finals.......

It wasn't till the 11th round till dignitas were able to finally get a round on the board and they could then pick the next round up to take the half to 8-4. With not many major clutches, it wasn't the best half I must say.

Finally the 2nd half started, (again everyone was waiting for Matt to press his ready up key!), and this was clutch heaven. However, dignitas were definitely showed their true clutch potential; with the brothers pulling off some brilliant clutches to take the scores level at 9-9.

Amazingly Zaccubus, or probably not amazingly considering Zacc's gaming prestige, wasn't doing too badly, and was holding his own. But usually at the end of the rounds we would find SoCLoN left, who at the moment wasn't going to lose any clutches. I predicted a 13-11 result, and this is definitely how it was looking, with the score levelling out at 10-10. You could tell that this means a lot to both teams, not in terms of position in the tournament, or prize money, but prestige! The shotguns have disappeared and the 74us have come out. However, we still have D1ablo scoping (well it is more running around with the scope and getting Deagle kills!).

The All Stars got a few big rounds to take them to game point, in a historic win. The team were able to get the frags quite easily, and even though dignitas aren't playing at full power, this definitely doesn't look that promising for this weekend's UKeSA tournament. There have been moments of brilliance from some of the players but it wasn't the highest calibre of games.

The next round would be dignitas's downfall, as again the brothers were able to retake the bomb in a 2on2 clutch situation, but were a second too slow as the bomb exploded in their faces to give the All Stars team a historic 13-10 victory.

When asked about the game, Zaccubus admitted he wasn't playing brilliant, shooting his team mates more than the opponents. They thought they could pull it back, but unfortunately they were not able to get the last few rounds. D1ablo the pessimist definitely didn't think they were going to win the game when it got to 8-8, also admitting that it felt like it was a mix team they were playing as.

Overall it was an enjoyment to watch as a spectacle, but hopefully we will be seeing some better games this weekend. The final score saw the mix team defeat Team Dignitas 13-10.
