A day after the event, I was able to finally sort out the interview I did with robyEE just after the final. They had just won, and I had enough time to quickly interview him before everyone started heading home.
We talk about the game, the tournament and UKeSA, as well as his brilliant sniper shot that he pulled off to win the first map for TCM. You are also now able to vote for your MVP for the CoD4 tournament, either below or on the left hand side. robyEE is of course up for that vote and if TosspoT or ReDeYe have their way, this will definitely be the case.
Well I am here with robyEE, just got away from an exhilerating final with Team Dignitas. How do you feel?
I feel pretty like good, finally won a LAN. We have come top 3 twice in a row and then suddenly become one of the finest teams of the European scene, so it is a great achievement. Almost a year has past since I played in a final, I think the last one was AEF or something. But it feels good, really very good.
You just beat Reason before the final in very comfortable fashion. Did this give you a lot of confidence going into the final against dig?
Well we started off against dignitas knowing we couldn't underestimate them even though we had beaten Reason. The first map for Reason was close but on the 2nd map we did fairly dominate them. We went in with confidence but we didn't want to underestimate them. They are still dignitas and there are all really good players, so we wanted to make sure we didn't underestimate them.
Talk us through what was going through your head with that shot. TosspoT and ReDeYe went absolutely crazy. They were saying that has to be one of the best shots in CoD4 ever. Talk us through what went on in your mind as that was happening.
Well I just saw a glimpse of something. There were like 7 or 8 seconds left so I had to just pull the shot off, and I hit him. The other guy came to hunt me, but I just hid from him. That won the map, and that felt good, giving us a huge confidence boost. Yeah it felt really really good.
Did you feel at one stage that dignitas were going to pull it back and win the 2nd map when they started to mount their come back?
Yeah of course. But we kept our heads cool. Twist and everyone stepped up their game. We are a really good team now, and have one of the best style of team play ever, so we can deal with 3on5s and 2on5s, so we didn't really worry when we started losing a few rounds.
Where do you go from here now? You've got EPS UK and OOF/TEX after that.
We are not attending OOF. Last year I was with Koma Crew and I turned 17 there, but this year I am turning 18 which is a really big birthday so I won't be able to go. But will be at TeX and i37 of course. A lot of people are going to be training a lot, and those who go to OOF will have an advantage, as they are planning a boot camp or something. But if we practice hard online. I think we are better on LAN than online.
What has been up with the team over the last 2 to 3 weeks. There had been a lot of talk that you guys were splitting up. Vasquez went on holiday and I heard that some players were only staying to try keep the team alive. Were those all rumours?
Vasquez was just going on holiday, a normal holiday that everyone knew about so that had nothing to do with it. I admit I am a bit flamy online, sometimes I just rage a lot. It's not usually at my team mates, but there is something in me, I just can't turn that........ thing off, I can't stop it. We had a really good conversation a few days before the event, and everything was sorted. It's all fine now.
Can we see TCM sticking out for the whole summer?
Yeah definitely
What do you think of UKeSA as a whole?
Well what can I say..... The people here are really nice but the venue is just, yeah, total....... crap. It's not really nice. I thought it would be a lot bigger, have a big crowd. I know that spectators weren't allowed and all, but I thought it would be bigger. It is really small, like really small. Not what I would have expected.
Well it is 12:20. We are coming up to the 5 hours behind schedule point. But before you go, do you have any final shoutouts you would like to make?
Thanks for the interview. I want to thank TCM, and all the sponsors of course. I want to thank my girl friend, for supporting me back home. And I want to thank my dad, who has come with me this LAN, a really big support for me. And everyone else I have forgot, like Timmy_D and....... yeah. Just thanks to everyone with much love, from robyEE.
