TCM vs Reason Match Report
@ ESL Pro Series UK season 2 CoD:4 channel

TCM pull through in a stunning match against Reason

In the 2nd semi final, Reason Gaming could not muster up the rounds needed at the crucial point to win the match against TCM. In a game that went right down to the wire, had 2 overtimes, 3 maps, and some amazing clutches, TCM came through victorious.

Just like the last game, I have a match report of the whole game as and when it happened, having sat behind the game for the whole of it.

Match Report

The second of the CoD4 finals took place, not streamed over the net unfortunately, but was still there for us to watch.

The game started on backlot, the only map that wasn't chosen or vetoed. After some time, the game finally started, with plenty of CoD4 people sat around the players watching intently. Like the first game, the players had to make do with the shouts coming from the source game, and like usually it was none other than Kritikal. But finally the game started.

Reason started on defense on Backlot, and you could tell this was going to be very loud map. revoltz was screaming his lungs out as Reason took the early lead. But TCM were able to match them for sound and skill. Both players were exchanging rounds left right and centre.

Reason concentrating hard

Some of the best shots were coming from Reason's two foreign players, kAMMYz and sLWx. They were both playing really really well and were winning some truly brilliant rounds. On the other hand, TCM had no one really standing out. robyYE was hitting the shots when it was needed, and he was keeping TCM on track.

The first half finished 6-6, and this map just had the vibes to go all the way to overtime. Again there were some very close rounds, and you could instantly tell who was winning as the cheers would come up. TCM were relying a lot on their nades to get them through the rounds. They were managing to catch a lot of the Reason players with nades at the start of each round.

Like expected, this game went right down to the wire. Reason had map point at 12-10, but they were just not able to get the final round. TCM were able to get the 2 rounds needed to secure overtime. It was overtime! These two teams are so close skill wise, that an overtime was almost expected. Like the BB vs dig game, this was looking like a spitting image of the UKeSA game where the first map went to overtime.

But this time Reason were able to take the advantage of the overtime, and dominated both halves, and winning both 2-1. This left them winning the map 16-14 and we were into the 2nd map, Citystreets.

2nd Map

Citystreets started with Reason on the easier defense side. The game went in almost the same way as the first map did, with both teams exchanging rounds left right and centre. Again the Finns were playing brilliantly, with kAMMYz getting lots of sniper kills, and managing to clutch a few big rounds. revoltz made sure that whole venue knew exactly when they won a round. But TCM were also able to get rounds, again with robyYE at the centre of things. revoltz also was playing very well, not only getting the frags, but also encouraging the team along with his "loud mouth".

It does seem that twist took my harsh words on the preview to heart, and because of that spurred TCM on to a 6-6. This is looking just like the 1st map! The first round of the 2nd map not only sees Lighters try out the shotgun (and then getting owned), but also sam (sLWx) performing brilliantly in a clutch and taking Reason back into the lead. The next round is a huge round for Reason. They manage to get the bomb down on B, but soon lose men and leave it at a 1on2 with only kAMMYz left. His deagle work and great match play meant he could get the kill needed to stop the defuse and let the bomb go off.

Reason are on fire! "lets go" shouted kAMMYz closely followed by the "come on" by revoltz. Tim's usual phrase of "nice" soon appears again, as Reason pick up another round as Styles knifes robyYE to clinch the round. Reason are only 4 rounds away from victory but TCM are able to pull one round back to stop this rush of rounds from Reason. Again this is exactly like the BB vs dig game. Once one team gets a round, they get at least 1 or 2 more after it. This is the same with TCM as they pick up the next round to take the score to within 1 again.

But Reason pulled away, and a HUGE "nice" from the whole team, propells them forward to that very important 11th round. They just need 2 more to take them through to the finals again dignitas. "Lucky " mumours revoltz, and a big "come on boys" echoes from across the room. TCM have again pulled it back to 1 round difference. They soon work this even more to take it to 11 all. Could this be another overtime?

Reason make sure they are in the overtime, as styles goes huge and cements Reason's place in at least the overtime if not the finals. TCM have to win this point. It is all down to Tim to get them through to the final without overtime against 3 TCM players, make that 2. The screams from behind me tell me who has won before I see the screen, TCM have taken Reason to another overtime.

Here we are again!

The delays start again! Phantasy is moaning left right and centre that his PC is messing up. He had 2 new monitors, 1 new PC and 1 new dvi cable. It was none of these. It was his config that was messing up, and after he got hold of SoCLoN's config, it was all working fine! Oh dear..... it is going to be a late night

But finally the overtime started. They exchange 1 round each, and this final round is going to be a big round for Reason who are defending. Lighters and Styles step up to the task, and make sure Reason go into the 2nd half with the 1 round lead. They just need 2 more to be in the finals. TCM need 4 and they get one of them in a round that goes on for ages. TCM are again relying on the nades to get them the frags. They are constantly getting at least 1 opening nade. Vasquez helps Reason out with a TK at the wrong moment, that give Reaosn a chance of going ahead again. But TCM stop that and get the round. They have stepped up a gear when needed and are now on map point. Map point with a 2 man advtange, make that 4. Just Lighters left to ace to keep Reason in the map. It doesn't happen, and we're going to a 3rd map.

TCM on their way to victory

3rd Map

The 3rd map finally started, on Strike, and it looked like we were in for the long haul again. TCM got the early lead, and looked in good shape. But Reason then started coming back. TCM were just not disciplined enough. Reason were able to pick them off all the time. Even 2on4s in favour of TCM weren't guaranteed rounds. Reason worked hard to get the rounds they did. The concentration required for this is going to tire them out.

But Reason came through victorious in the first half, winning it comfortably 8-4 as defense. This is going to make it interesting going into the second half, with Reason needing only 5 rounds to clinch the victory. The second half kicks off, and much to dignitas and ButtonBasher's dismay, TCM catch right up. At 10-8 to Reason, it looks like it could be heading away from TCM, but robyYE manages to pull of a simply brilliant clutch. The bomb is down, Reason have 3 players defending it and robyYE manages to win it! To add to this TCM get the next round to bring it to 10 all. Not another overtime!

TCM don't want an overtime, as they clinch the 21st round to take the lead again at last! A huge cheers goes up as they get the 22nd round! Match point TCM for the first time in the match. Can they finally do it? The round is over pretty quickly, even after a bit of a scare from kAMMYz, TCM finally get the kill, and they have put themselves through to the finals, in an exact repeat of the UKeSA Grand Final.
