ButtonBashers come 3rd and beat Reason Gaming

At the same time as the Grand Final, Reason Gaming stood up against Button Bashers in the 3rd/4th place playoff. In yet another 3 map special, ButtonBashers came through to knock Reason down to the 4th place.

Reason Gaming had their heads down after narrowly losing to TCM in a game they should have won. But they couldn't pull through. They then went on to lose a 3 map epic game and ended up coming 4th overall again.

Again, I have a full match write up as and when everything happened.

1st Map

Reason gaming took a great start, as they managed to take the half 7-5. They were looking great and had a lot more spirit and enthusiasm to their game. But in similar style to UKeSA, they were simply not able to see out the map. At 10-5 you thought it was all over for ButtonBashers on Strike. But the BB side didn't give up immediately.

Reason gave up a few stupid rounds, and allowed BB to get right back into it. Soon the score was 11 all, and you could just see Reason's heads dropping. This map is going to determine the winner of the game in my opinion. Reason will just not have the will power to win another 2 maps. They had map point, but again BB pulled it off when needed. In Lan79 BlackMane style, kAMMYz slammed his fists down in disgust. It's overtime again for Reason!

The overtime doesn't go well for Reason, as they lose the first 2 rounds. They are going to come 4th again if they carry on like this! Who would have thought that a month ago after the Lan79 finals against eSuba. ButtonBashers are on a role though, and they only need 2 of the last 3 to win the map. But Reason are not going to let that happen. They get the next 2 rounds, and suddenly they are on map point. This is the confidence that they need. They just have to hold out now, with a 4on3, no make that a 3on3. But BB hold out. It's double overtime!

ButtonBashers will feel full of confidence, after pulling this match back. As for Reason, I can tell that they are disappointed and their moral is low. They just can't finish it off! Lighters said it himself, they can not get the vital rounds. Reason are angry, Reason are going to lose this. The swear words can be heard, as ButtonBashers start to cheer. BB have the first 2 rounds of the second OT.

ButtonBashers have done it, in double overtime they have managed to secure the first map. This is almost identical to UKeSA. BB have won the first map, and Reason are looking down, very down. I think this second map is going to be over very very quickly.

Second Map

Crossfire is loaded, the first time in the tournament. Reason are going to have to play out of their skins to win this game. Crossfire starts with ButtonBashers and Reason swapping rounds at the start. But the defense of Reason starts to show, and they go through to a 6-2 lead. This is not what we expected, and when I went over I was suprised to see them in the lead. There hadn't been a sound coming from the Reason players!

The first half ends silently with Reason taking the lead. They were not able to stretch their first half lead any more, and could only get 7 in the defense. But Reason do make the most of the attack as they storm to an 11-6 lead. This is going to go to a 3rd map as well! Wasn't expecting this. They soon make that 12 and map point is in their grasp. Please don't give it away again Reason! We've had enough of overtime. They do, they have finally seen out a map. We are going to a 3rd map!!

Third Map

The third map starts, with ButtonBashers attacking on Backlot. They get the best possible start, racing to 5 rounds and only allowing Reason to get 1. They have suddenly upped the noise as well. Soon they make that a 6 - 1 lead. "Lighters is still to get a kill" says Chenson over the stream. revoltz is holding his own, but no one else seems to be able to. On the other hand ButtonBashers are looking strong, especially L-KING. Reason should be on a high after the second map, but that is not being transfered into the third.

nreo is also having a great game with the SMG, as he storms around and gets the kills. They are 8 rounds to 2 up and looking good. Styles seems to be getting a bit confused as well, as he went to the wrong site once the bomb was down. Fine in CS:S maybe, but in CoD4 where there is a big red symbol over the bomb.... perhaps not. The half finishes off, 10-2 to ButtonBashers. Reason are in dire straits.

ButtonBashers only need 3 rounds to win the tournament, and with the way Reason are playing, that is going to happen fairly soon. Reason get the first few rounds and look like they could be mounting a bit of a come back. They are doing just that, as Stlyes gets a great few kills to give them just a bit of hope. ButtonBashers camp it out and wait; they get the round and they are just 2 rounds away from 3rd place at EPS and an exact repeat of the UKeSA Grand Finals. ButtonBashers are looking strong, and disciplined. They are staying in. But kAMMYz is playing very well now and finally hitting the scopes. Shame he doesn't have the support of his players. qwerty also embarrases kAMMYz by out "sniping" him with a silenced USP! Very dignitas style.

sLWx and Styles start to get into the game, and are looking like they could form a bit of a come back, with the score set at 12-8 to BB. They only need 1, so Reason have to get every single round from now on. Can they do it? If TosspoT was casting I am pretty sure he would be eating his hat at the moment. No one expected Reason to pull this one back, and it is now 12-9 to Reason, make that 12-10.

They have come back so far, but they then lose 2 early men. This is the moment ButtonBashers have been waiting for. And they clinch it! ButtonBashers have sent Reason down to the gutters again. This is not what they wanted. We have an exact replicate of the UKeSA Final Standings.
