HornYz on their "average" performance
@ OutPost on Fire 3 CoD:4 channel

DuRuS talks to HornYz after their "average" group stage performance

Recently joined mTw had a very disappointing group stages here at OOF3, after they only just managed to get through to the playoffs in second place rather than the expect first place. I found team leader HornYz to ask him what went wrong.

I also spoke about how their recent move to the top team mTw.

I am here with hornyz from mTw. You have come to the event, played your games. But how are you finding it?

The first game was really horrible. We couldn't find our game, and the opponents, YYT, they lead 7-12, but we managed to find our game and we pushed it to a draw, at least not a draw. In the next game, we started very well, and we had 8-4 on the first half as defence, but then we f***ed it up. We lead 12-8 but we still only got a draw.

But are you still enjoying yourself being at the event?

Yeah it's really fun here, The people here are really cool, really friendly to us. We met up with some former friends from UKeSA LANs. The organisation is good, the computers are... well some hardware problems but that is not the reason we got a draw.

So what went wrong in those two games? You were seeded in the top tier, and people expected you to beat these teams. Did the pressure just get to you?

I think it was not the pressure but our concentration on the first map. We did not have any communications; everyone was new to the conditions. It was really something different to the UKeSA LAN. There it is was a small room but here was a big room and there was a lot of noise. Some people were distracted by that, the surrounding.

There have been a lot of statements thrown around that you are a team of "onliners". Do you think that has put a lot of pressure on you that you need to prove that you are not an online team, that you can play offline as well?

I think that we have definitely proved that we are not an online as everyone saw that as the UKeSA LAN. All the top players were watching Jetleck and us, and they respected us, and that our form was ok. And here at the LAN, jetleck and me and Plotsch were playing really well, alu and JoTschY need some improvement but I think it is ok. I don't care being called an onliner or something else.

You have recently joined mTw. Can you talk us through how you made it into one of the biggest organisations in Europe?

Actually right now we are one of the best German teams, no, the best German team. We won so many tournaments, cups, the German EPS. We recently joined mTw, because their old team folded. We knew that they were interested in us before, but they had already got a CoD4 team, and we did not want to disturb anything over there, so we waited until the old team folded. So we got in touch with mTw and then finally joined.

Some people have been comparing this move to the way SK picked up a CoD4 team, and to put it quite bluntly, they failed miserably. Do you think this is going to be different?

mTw during one of their two draws

I think it definitely will be, yes. 1 1/2 year ago, the conditions were completely different. There was another MOD played, and they picked up a team that won the online competition, the CoDQCup. 6Devils didn't perform at any LAN before. We have already been at a bootcamp and the UKeSA LAN, so I think it will be different.

Do you think that now playing under the mTw tag it is going to put even more pressure on you? Could it be like MYM last summer where the managers demanded a top 3 finishing at every event for them to remain in the team?

Well definitely mTw are expecting us to perform well, and deep in their heart I think they want us to be top 3. I think they don't expect us to win this LAN, as it is our first big offline tournament so I think the pressure is ok, but not too much pressure right now.

Talk us through what your plans are for the playoffs here. You have gone through in 2nd place, so you will have a harder team to play. But how do you think you will do against better teams?

I think it is going to be a very hard round, as we are definitely going to play a top 1 team, and so I am quite sure that is going to be a tough match, because they have more LAN experience. I don't know what happens next but I know we will give our best and improve and correct our mistakes.

Who are you most worried about out of the top teams here?

fnatic, because they are such a great team. They have great players like Stevy and LINQAN and I think their performance will be really good.

What are your plans for tonight to prepare for tomorrow?

We are definitely going to do some PCWs over here and we are going to think about the maps again and think about our tactics. Maybe give some advice to some of the players that maybe didn't do so well.

Things were definitely not going to plan today

Moving away from OutPost, what are your plans for the rest of the summer? You said mTw weren't expecting you to win this event, but surely they must expect you to win something. What something will that be?

There will be the German EPS very soon, and our goals for the EPS are to win it and defend our title. We are attending TeX next week, and also our goal over there is top 3, because we have to, and we want to.

Do you think CoD4 is going to survive till CoD6? Will people play that or will they stay with CoD4?

Tough question, I can't answer that, and I won't because it can be one way or another. Like CoD5 which failed. I will just wait and see what happens.

Well thank you very much. Have you got any shoutouts to make?

Shoutouts to my team, to mTw and also the organisation here, as well as mTw's sponsors. Thanks a lot.
