Flak on Pure
@ OutPost on Fire 3 CoD:4 channel

DuRuS speaks to flak from Pure after their convincing win with H2K

Pure were in a hard group, with 2 other teams that could all give each other a hard game. However, Pure have really come out on top, winning the group, with relative ease. They also knocked out one of the top tier seeds, namely H2K.

There is a full match recap here, and then the interview is all below.

Welcome back to the OutPost on Fire 3 coverage. Here with me is PureSports. What a day, it couldn’t really have gone much better for you.

Yeah we came out, didn’t really play like we had practiced. We played unpredictably which as the plan.

When you came here this morning did you think you would be beating H2K, the favourites in your group?

We really didn’t know what to expect. We heard a few things about H2K, and then TLR beating them off the back kind of worried us, because we had heard that H2K was going to be a really hard match on Crash. We didn’t really expect to win the bracket, but I guess we did.

How do you think you guys have played? You said you haven’t played as planned, but do you still think it was towards the top end of your game, or can we still see some improvement?

Pure on their way to an emphatic win

I think we can see improvement on an individual level. I don’t know about our team work or coordination but I think it will all fall together throughout the LAN to be honest.

Going into the rest of the tournament, how do you think you will do in the rest of the brackets?

It becomes a question of, fnatic, they just edged by and they were expected to dominate the LAN. We have yet to see Reason play. Dignitas did play earlier, and we are worried about those 3 teams. They are our biggest concerns at this point.

Some of the Tek-9 guys described your play style as unseen before. The closest style people have seen is fnatic. Do you think this gives you an advantage going into the games as no one really knows how you play?

I think it will be an advantage. We looked at how Europeans played for the last few months, ever since cook nades and that were taken out. We reviewed that play style. We have all played with all the American community. Juvey has played with EG in Europe before so he knows their playstyle, and we have all played with the Pandemic guys so we all know their playstyle. We basically have just been trying to work off what we know. It works for them and it worked for Euros, and watching that playstyle, we are just working our strats around it.

Do you think you can go all the way with it?

I think we will try out best, I am hoping we can.

Let’s talk a bit more generally. How are you finding your first event in Europe?

Adjusting to Europe has been rough, for all of us, in terms of jetlag, food, and money and all of that. It’s a big adjustment, but in terms of playing it all felt together today, so I guess we will just take it a day at a time.

What things are you finding that are so different to America?

No big cars, lots of bikes, food, everything is expensive. It’s a tourist town. In terms of CoD, every team is different. I don’t know if there is a Euro playstyle that everyone fits. In terms of H2K, we expected them to sit back, and they did, on defence and on offense. Other than that I don’t think we have really thoroughly looked at every team.

A round goes against Pure

Looking forward to the next week and a half out here and moving on to TeX?

We are looking forward to good play at TeX, because the UpperBracket gets money, we just want to get up in that UB,  win money, and take it match by match. But we will definitely be looking at this LAN as our example for TeX.

And how do you think you will do at TeX? Can you repeat what you have done so far?

Well we did scrim with TCM when we were boot camping, and it was.... tough.  [Reminder about the screenshot going around]. For me personally and the team as a whole, we don’t want to give them an advantage by letting them know our play style. Scrims are scrims basically.

Thank you for the interview, any final words to say?

Shoutout to the Tek9 and Cadred guys, you guys are awesome. I wish we had better coverage like this in America.
