OOF3: TBH.smithz interviewed
@ OutPost on Fire 3 CoD:4 channel

DuRuS sat down with smithz from TBH, who had just gone out in 7th/8th position.

Make sure to check out the rest of Cadred's coverage of the Outpost On Fire 3 CoD4 tournament, including scores, match wrte-ups, interviews and galleries, on this page.

How do you think the tournament has been for you?

Well its been kind of good at the beginning, except the loss vs noProblem where we just fucked up and they played really strong like a top team. Yeah, we just couldn't find our concentration like at the past CoD HR LAN where we didn't quite have the top teams but all in all it was ok for our first LAN with moe again, because Thunder went inactive a few weeks ago.

And are you quite happy with a 7th/8th finish at this event. Do you think you could have got a better placing?

Well no we are definitely not happy with the ending for us, but after we won vs purEsports quite easily we thought ok maybe we can pull out some good results now. But vs Buttonbashers we really fucked up the defence, we lost every 1v1 2v1 3v1 and we just fucked up. On the attack side we played quite good we had 4-3 or something but then they had 12-6 or something

And where do you think it went wrong for you in the group stages against noProfile that ultimately left you in a hard section of the group. What was it that noProfile did? were you just not expecting them to come out as they did?

Yeah we kinda underated them and I mean we started really good. We had like in the first round 5v2 and their sniper naded 2 of us and killed one and it was a 2v2 and we lost the round the next round again 5v3 we lost again. Then they just started to camp, we were really playing aggressive we just run into them and we just lost every round.

Do you think a large chunk of that can be put down to LAN nerves as this is your first major event? How did you find playing sort of under the pressure with people stood behind you and lots of people watching.

Well, all of us played like 6 LANs or something, Antwerp Esports Festival, LANs like that. It wasn't really the pressure of the people spectating us, was more the pressure of the community wanting us to perform well.

TBH with Pure chosing maps

Why do you think that pressure has been put on you by the community. People have been calling you the online team that have been doing quite well online so did you almost feel you had something to prove coming to OOF?

Well, a little bit, because we played really strong the past 8 weeks before LAN but like 4 weeks before the LAN we lost EMS to Fnatic and Reason we lost seemstorm we lost EPS finals, we lost almost everything and so we didn't really have any pressure to perform like we did, like i said 8 weeks ago, when we won everything. But we came to the LAN with moe as a replacement for Thunder and we started to play with him like 4 weeks ago and we didnt have the teamplay we used to have with Thunder.

How pleasing was it for you to see your fellow German side mTw, the team who has just joined a really big organisation, leave in 13-16th place, and they didn't win a single match. Was that pleaseing for you guys?

Maybe a little bit because they robbed our title of EPS but when it comes to LAN all the countries should stick together, so we cheered for them, they cheered for us. So we weren't happy about them losing but we are happy that we came more far than them.

And what about moving on to TeX? You're going there for the start in a few days time. Do you think you can do better than you did here?

Yeah I hope so. We are bootcamping in Denmark for 2 days. And we're gonna watch our demos of the matches here. I hope we can do better there

TBH cheering a victorious round

What is it that you're gonna work on at that bootcamp? What areas do you think are sort of your weak points at the moment?

We can't really play safe, so thats our first point. And we have to adapt to the tactics of the teams like really better, or we're gonna drop out again really soon. We're gonna try to make new strats and new tactics especially for the LAN because the top teams play different compared to on the internet. They camp really hard, they camp with 3 guys in the same site like in the mid house on backlot. Online they just play different so we have to get used to that and find our own gamestyles so we try to focus more on that. And also on communications

And who has impressed you here at Outpost? Are there any teams that you didn't expect to be that good and have come here and really shown the community they can play at events?

Firstly, noPro because we thought they are onliners, and cubesports, they played really strong. Also YoYoTech, I don't even know any one of them and they played amazing.

And who do you think is going to go on to win the tournament here?

Oh, thats really hard because the top favourites, like Dignitas, Fnatic. They played really strong, but also they almost lost like really high. At the beginning I thought purEsports or Fnatic but right now I think Reason Gaming or Dignitas.

Ok, well thank you very much for the interview, have you got anything you wanna say finally?

Yeah, thank you mate, Thanks to TBH, to our clan, to MSI for paying everything, of course our fellow fans and my teammates and everyone who knows me

Thank you very much
