George on finishing 5th/6th
@ OutPost on Fire 3 CoD:4 channel

DuRuS has a chat with CubeSports player George

In the final interview from OutPost on Fire 3, I caught up with George, a veteran in terms of CoD4. He came here with a relatively new CubeSports and finished 5th/6th, something they really weren't expected to do. I made sure to get his opinion on all of this.

It’s the final day here at Outpost on Fire and I'm here with cubesports. You guys finished 5th/6th, how you feeling after that?

We are very happy because when we started, a lot of the Italian community said this Outpost will be very hard and we have to only pass the group stage. After that the playoff will be very very hard. We passed the groups stage and we found 2 matches we can win and we make it. So we are really happy for this opportunity we had. Its luck and brain that brought us to 5th/6th so we were really happy because we weren't expected to get that far

Did you ever in your wildest dreams expect to be beating teams like you did?

NoProfile and purEsports, noProfile we know are very good because like us it is their first time at LAN and we know coming from Italy people think we are noobs, but we know they wouldn't be. In Italy we have 80 ping and bad PCs so we know when we come to LAN we can do well and we thought noProfile would be the same. They are the underdogs of this LAN for me. They beat a lot of good teams, and it’s been really hard. For purEsports they came from America. They came here to show what Americans can do but we said no you can't

Did you think you had quite an easy run through the group stages, do you think that helped you get to the position 5th/6th?

No because we wanted to play more games in the group stages because we wanted to warmup. So to only get 2 games, 1 hard, 1 too easy is not the best preparation. We wanted to play more. I'm sure the playoffs divided, the first part is really hard to beat and the other part we are lucky. But we never said it was easy to win, but we were lucky.

You went in and played Dignitas in the lower bracket as your final game. Things didn't really go to plan, but do you think on a different day you may have been able to beat them? Or do you think they're just too strong at the moment?

I think on another day we could beat them, because I never calmed my teammates. 2 of them, it’s their first euro events. So when they saw stevy, when they saw all of fnatic, all the Dignitas they started screaming "oh my god, they're here they’re my idols" it’s hard because they feared them in game and they kept dying from the same nade each time. And also the Dignitas players they know us and they saw all our matches and they knew all our tactics. Mark wrote down all our tactics. This is the way to win, they showed us and they used it against us, we lost just through brain.

Facepalm for George!

Do you think you've learnt quite a bit then at this event of how to sort of play at an event, like you've been saying teams have been watching you and learning what you do so they know what to do when they come up against you. Do you think at future events that you will be able to come here with more knowledge and maybe get further than you have at the moment?

I'm sure for that, it’s my 5th LAN I've come to in Europe so I just need to help the others to learn this. After the match we always talk about it and now they understand why we have to do this. I'm sure the next LAN we can do better and for now we will go to TeX and then in September we're going to another LAN so I hope we can take this with us and do well.

So is that the future for cube, are you definitely going to stick as the 5 man team you are at the minute and look to carry on playing?

About that I don't know because I'm just calling and doing the game at the LAN. Online all the managers make the decisions. I think for him this is a good team, we just need to improve our SMGs as for now our 2 SMGs don't go together but after that I think our team is good. We have our little one, mafarka, he's played really well, just so brainless because it’s his first LAN and to him they are all god, but he is German so he can talk in Italian but he can't express very well, like me now in English. So it’s hard to call all the things. Or we can start to call all in English and he'll be able to understand us all the time but he's a good player so we will work it out.

And finally, how have you enjoyed this event, not particularly the tournament... Coming to a different country, out in Belgium for 3 days, have you enjoyed yourselves?

I just spoke to Stevy, and I ask him if he can find me a job over here. I love Antwerp; it’s the 3rd time I've been here, two times for LAN and one time for vacation. I love this city, I love the middle part, and it’s fantastic. Everyone likes it, we think in Antwerp there is the best beers we've ever seen. We love the black one and we love the blonde one. It’s a really nice country, a really nice place. The outpost is a wonderful wonderful LAN.

Thank you very much for the interview. Do you have any shoutouts?

For sure, I have to.. not thanks, more than thanks our sponsors, AMD and cubesports, Kaspersky and Red Bull too. We have a lot of Red Bull with us. All of our sponsors give a lot so cubesports and AMD thanks a lot, and all the other spectators, s3cco from Italy and pusha. They're always sending us SMSs after the game, so thank you

There is no audio version of this due to the English barrier problems we faced. It wouldn't have worked well as an audio interview.
