SLAP Interview With Xertion
@ SLAP Live #19 channel

It has been a tumultuous time for everyone's favourite Dutch players in the build up to SLAP. First they lost arguably one of their most consistent players, being replaced by an old friend. Then they found themselves without an organisation after difficulties within 4kings.

But after that they returned to the organisation where they made a name for themselves as one of the greatest CS:S teams to grace the game. Back at fnatic, back to winning ways - they are the reigning OOF and FOM champions - and at an event with some major competition, how would it all pan out? Would it be like an e-fairy tale?

If the initial night was anything to go off, the answer would be no. Lost, without a hotel, left fighting for survival against the elements and now playing games without sleep... It's fair to say the event could have had a much better start.

One thing you can say about these players is they have been there and done it all before and they have so far looked good despite their preparations. Through to the Quarter-Finals of the event with ease I quickly spoke to Milan "Xertion" Veeger before they played their match against DSRack:

I heard you didn't have a great nights preparation. What actually happened, and who was responsible?
Well we left from holland at 14.00 and after alot of traffic jams and road workers we arrived at SLAP around 02.00. Then we played 1 group match and after that we went straight to our Hostel. Atleast that is what we hoped for. We couldn't find the damn Hostel even though we had a GPS system haha. After a while we found out that the GPS system was right after all (dohh) and we saw a tiny tiny tiny little sign with Dan Hostel on it haha. Anyway it was nearly 4.30 when we found the hostel. Then on top of all the delay there we ran into a very unfortunate surprise because the Hostel was closed. We tried calling but no-one answered so we didn't hesitate and decided to sleep in the cars haha. We slept for 2 hours maximum and when we woke up it was so cold, it felt like my drool was frozen to my cheek. Then we decided to man up, go to SLAP and live off energy drinks.
So, not an ideal start to the tournament. How are you guys feeling and how do you think your matches have gone so far?
Well we're feeling like a bunch of zombies but we've experienced this stuff before so we're trying to ignore the fatigue. The matches went good but they were not really interesting, so far so good though.

The fnatic team trying to get some shut-eye

You have DSRack in the quarter-finals - what do you know about them and how do you expect to do?
We know they are really strong because we played a bunch of practice matches against them and they were quite impressive. I know we can take them but still I think it's going to be a very close match so tune in everyone!
Have you caught any of the other action so far? What's the word at the event as to what teams are looking good?
No we haven't actually. We've just been busy finding a damn ATM. We're starving. Cause our cards won't work at the cafeteria.
Who has been playing well out of you guys so far then? Any of you that we should be watching out for through the event, or any potential MVPs?
Actually we can't tell yet because we haven't had any tough matches yet. DSRack will be the first exciting match. I think AirRaid is the one to watch throughout the event because he's really been hitting his shots and getting the clutches lately. Also keep an eye on Blaze as you said in the article because he has to fill some big b00ts indeed.
How's Blaze been doing since he came back? Is he rusty, or is it just like old times?
He was a bit rusty but he's getting back to his old skill level quite fast. He's already playing very well and I'm sure it won't be long and he'll be a headshotmachinebot with waypoints again.
Just before you go to play your game we had this come through to the Cadred nerve centre: DSRack | Hunkizh: got fnatic next! DSRack | Hunkizh: LETS GO FUCKING MENTAL What are your thoughts?
Who's Hunkizh?
I Think it’s Hunden, AKA DOG if you speak to Rickeh.
Nope… Still not heard of him. Who's Hunden? ;)
