Following a very public spat over salaries the CS:S team were removed from the Vitriolic organisation, starting a domino effect that has all but left Vitriolic in ruins. To remind people of what occurred the team had called themselves Promise Keepers.
Now they will be no longer able to use that name as they have been picked up by the relatively obscure Blight Gaming organisation. It is unclear what the deal entails at this time, but clearly the ambitious team feel that the Blight management can support them in the way they want.
It seems to be a similar situation to the Vitriolic one, where the Swedish team - highly experienced and respected - have an opportunity to put an organisation little known in European CS:S on the map. Many will be hoping it doesn't come to a similar acrimonious end. Certainly Christopher "Helblinde" Nilsson is extremely positive following the move.
He had the following to say exclusively to Cadred:
After weeks of uncertainty it feels nice to once again be able to represent and start competing at a top level again. After the irritating and unfortunate events that happened in vitriolic we are once again back on track and I must say it feels better than we would have ever expected. We will represent Blight-gaming to the best of our abilities and we will keep on improving and performing during the upcoming month. We want to thank you all for the amount of support we have received up until now, and hopefully you will keep on supporting us during 2010. See you at the events!
The General Manager, James "Blackfoger" Larsen, introduced Blight Gaming to Cadred readers:
We are a large multi-gaming organization that started up in 2003 with Star Wars Battlefront with 300 members a pub clan of the sort winning lots of competitions. As of 2007 started picking up pro teams. Now we have over 25 professional and semi-pro teams around the world and more EU teams to be announced soon. Our website Version 2 will be released within 2 weeks at BlightGaming.com.
