WCG09: mTw Take 3rd Place
@ World Cyber Games 2009 channel

mTw beat a determined CMAX.gg in the third place playoff, to salvage some pride following thie heavy semi finals defeat to fnatic.

CMAX.gg are the undoubted surprise of the tournament so far, and as cts on nuke they certainly surprised the Danes. mTw were blown away in the early stages, demonstrating yet again that they are anybody's game on nuke. The Danish side managed to salvage some rounds however, and finished the half 11-4 down.

It transpired in the second half that the Russians were actually worse than mTw on this map however, and some excellent defensive play saw the Danes cruise to a 16-12 victory.

Map two was Inferno, and despite winning the pistol round, mTw went down 10-5 in the first half. The second half was all about mTw once again - they cheerfully blew their opponents away to also win Inferno 16-12.

mTw will go away disappointed after their semi final performance, but to be honest third place in this prestigious tournament is still a huge achievemant. CMAX quite possibly put Russian cs on the map. I have long hyped Virtus.pro as the team that will elevate Russian cs to one of the elite nations, but it turns out it was a little-known team that had played out of its skin to qualify for Chengdu. They carried this form on throughout the tournament, though some will claim they benefitted from a weakened group and an easy draw.
