fnatic must be wondering what they have to do to ever win the WCG, as a triumphant Polish side revel in their second WCG victory.

It all started so brightly for fnatic - they waltzed into the final still yet to lose a map since their opening-day defeat to Firegamers, on the back of a demolition job of mTw. They quickly asserted superiority over AGAiN, finding themselves 15-11 up as ct on nuke. The Polish team were on a half-buy having expended everything to get the score to 14-12, and the future looked bleak.

The Poles, overwhelming underdogs for this final after struggling their way through the easier side of the draw, were not giving up at this stage however. Somehow they managed to win the last four rounds against an increasingly desperate fnatic side to take the game to overtime. What followed is already being touted as one of the greatest spectacles in cs history.

Two of the all-time great cs sides traded punches for a full five overtimes as a deadly game of cat and mouse was played out across nuke. It did not matter to anybody watching how ragged the tactical play became, nobody noticed that the players were reverting to natural skill and desperate feints more and more, it was breathtaking, nailbiting stuff, and there was abolutely no noticeable difference between the sides.

It was going to take something spectacular to break the deadlock, and everybody was surprised when the hero-in-waiting was revealed as the unheralded loordb. Defending top site from the rafters, he took down three of the onrushing fnatic players, then calmly took down the last of the Swedes after a nailbiting wait to send his team mates into raptures.

A lengthy delay followed as the teams were forced to remove themselves from the main stage to make way for some shitty console game, and this allowed fnatic to take a step back and regroup.

When we did get back underway, a determined fnatic managed to get themselves into a 5-0 lead as terrorists on Train. The Poles came back strongly however, and the half finished 8-7 in favour of the Swedish team.

Nuke is traditionally a ct-sided map, so fnatic must have been confident at this point. AGAiN had distinctly different ideas however, and raced to 15-8 in front, clearly sensing victory. Time and time again dsn and f0rest were picked off in inside bombsite, and time and time again a desperate fnatic were reduced to impossible clutch attempts.

f0rest had been off-colour all game, so when he was left with a 3v1 clutch outside I could be forgiven for thinking it was game over. f0rest is a legend of the game though, and he somehow pulled off a stunning victory. fnatic heads lifted, and they managed to look like a team as they won the next two rounds. AGAiN kept their heads in a way that fnatic had not when leading on Nuke, and played patiently. dsn was having a shocker though, and when he was left in a 1v1 clutch at the end, he could do nothing for his team. loordb again took the plaudits of his team mates, clutching the final round for the second game in succession.

A famous, underdog victory for the Polish team, and fnatic leave WCG without the trophy yet again. After playing so well all the way up to the final, there was perhaps an inevitability that they would run out of steam when it most mattered.
