Sometimes, regardless of the situation, running Cadred (as Corin and team do) it's a thankless task. If the site is down, then rightly the team get bombarded with criticism and if updates are slow the team also come in for some flak.
So it is only right that when hard work leads to things being fixed, better updates and better coverage that those involved deserve praise. They don't always get it as its something which, perhaps rightly, should be expected if we want the site to be regarded highly.
However, my role at Heaven Media is to oversee all of the e-sport sites within the group and I felt that after weeks of hard work in the background by the entire team, it would be right, after a hugely successful weekend to pay a small tribute to those who have made it happen.
Firstly, we worked extremely hard to ensure the traffic numbers expected this weekend would not force the site down, as it has in past events. We moved the entire database and site to a new server, kindly provided by i3D and with excellent specs and with some code revisions being made in addition, we were confident it would be a huge improvement. Thus it turned out to be with the site being ultra reliable and maintaining a reasonable speed all weekend, despite mass coverage from i38 and WCG Finals. I want to say a quick thank you to the technical team including Steve and James at HM and also Corin for his hard work behind the scenes to drive it forward.
More over, we also had fantastic coverage from i38 from Durus and Gonzo and I would like to thank them for lengthy, quality and regular coverage being put up over the event, especially considering recent health issues for Richard. They did an awesome job.
Coverage of WCG was also good and jF deserves praise for sticking with it with score updates, news and posts over the 5 day event, especially when you consider the time difference meant he was up in the middle of the night more often than not.
I also want to thank all of those who played any part in either score updates from home, news pieces, helping out with finding srctv/hltv ip's and generally helping the site team bring far better coverage on a site which saw record traffic hit it over the weekend. I am sure you will join me in praising both paid and especially volunteer staff for their hard work and drive over the last few weeks which lead to such a successful weekend.
Of course there were still things that could be better and improved and we will take your comments on board, just as we have in the past and work on them to get it right in the future. For now, thank you to all those who came to the site over the two events and supported Cadred.
