The rumour mill was in overdrive when it appeared that Nameless, the former VeryGames team, would not be attending the MAXLAN event. There was speculation that their former "employers" may have been preventing them from competing owing to contractual obligations.

The statement said:

We want to answer to the participation of Nameless at MAXLAN 09.

It is important to know that one of five Nameless players is still under contract with Team VeryGames during this MaxLan. Under the settlement of “Masters Français du Jeu Vidéo”, we are entitled to request the exclusion of this player.

Nevertheless, we believe that the message about our goals of professional electronic sport is already well understood and there is no need to do this.For the interest of competition, we will not oppose to the presence of this player during the event.

But like everyone else, we are delighted with the participation of Nameless at this maXlan, which will be the first major event of the CSS scene this season. We hope to see beautiful competition, especially with a match Team VeryGames - Nameless!

Team VeryGames will begin its season offline with a little preparation. The players are still improving and the team is not fully there, even if the EPS results are encouraging. We hope to be at 100% for early 2010. We therefore wish all participating teams a very good maXlan 09!
