Back in October of last year it was revealed that the 2010 World Cyber Games would be held in Los Angeles. It is to be the tenth anniversary of the prestigious event and with the WCG's sense of occasion and pageantry you can be sure to expect something special.
Los Angeles is no stranger to huge gaming events having hosted the CGS World Finals and was also the setting for the WCG Ultimate Gamer TV show. With most major game developers and hardware designers also having officers in LA, it is a city with a lot of gaming heritage.
The CEO of the WCG, Hyoung-Seok Kim, issued this statement at the time:
After taking into careful consideration the many factors involved with selecting the host city, the World Cyber Games Committee came to a clear decision with Los Angeles. San Francisco and Seattle were extremely successful events and we look forward to returning to the United States for our 10-year anniversary.
Details of the venue and the dates had been a close kept secret with no official announcements. However Cadred can reveal this to our readers after stumbling across the event being displayed in the venue's events calender, even though the WCG site itself is still showing as "TBA".
The
Los Angeles Convention Center will be this years host if their calendar is to be believed and the event will take place between the
28th September and the 3rd of October. Naturally although nothing is confirmed it does beg the question why would the center be showing it on its calendar if it wasn't going to happen. This date is significantly earlier in the year than previous events.
Great news then for e-sports enthusiasts across the world in that, if this is to be believed, we shall not have to wait as long for one of the best events on the calendar.
