Vincent has been around the CS:S scene since it began and is a well known and established personality in the BENELUX scene.
Although still playing, Vincent utilises a lot of his time fulfilling his role as an admin for CS:S helping to run tournaments for E-sports Heaven and has been integral to the smooth running of all competitions so far.
"The top 6 explains itself I think. For the remaining four I've gone with the 2 newly formed teams that are packed with quality and experience in the form of TCM and FM Toxic. Although they might not have done much last month they are bound to put good results on the scoreboard. The last two spots go to the 2 biggest surprises from DsrackLan."
Richard comes from a journalistic background and has covered e-sports in print, on radio and television having worked for such organisations as GotFrag and CGS. He is the current content manager of Cadred where he contributes a weekly e-sports column. He was last year’s captain of Team UK in the ClanBase Nations Cup, although now he retired from playing.
He now concentrates on writing and management. Over the years he worked for Zboard, xciteuk, Infused and 4kings. These days he chooses to solely focus on his writing within the gaming industry.
"Well, what lasts longer - Online Kingdom, or a wine gum? That was the question that was being asked after the promising Danish team failed to replicate their online form, with one player thinking a rage induced car boot sale was the answer to the problems. A shame, because when a new team breaks into the top ten you kind of want them to stick around.
Obviously it's easy to see who the top dogs are at the moment. Usuaully they are the ones that are playing. Reason, despite being bundled out of ESEA in what seems - especially in light of Online Kingdom and Power Gaming's decision not to play - odd to say the least, are still at the top for me. But credit to The Imperial and Attax who deserve to be right up there.
No Dignitas means Power will be the lone UK entry as I don't see their EPS replacements picking up many votes for this top ten just yet and I'd expect Excello to jump up a rank or two to make way for teams like Burning and H2K.
But as Dylan said "The times they are a changin'"."
Paul "ReDeYe" Chaloner
Appearing on WorldsOldestHuman.com isn't all that Paul has to his name, he is also one of the most knowledgable and experienced men in eSports.
With a CV that won't fit into an average word processor, Paul is a director of QuadV, a broadcasting company he founded at the start of 2007.
Paul has been commentating for six years now, has appeared on major television networks in three continents, and is one of the most in-demand experts in gaming.
"It is a difficult month traditional, February, but at least last year we had something, a lan, to base our decisions on. Unfortunately due to tournament cancellations and general apathy and the decision by some players to stop playing, the top ten this month is made all that much harder.
The only way of doing it is to base it from the little action we have seen and pretty much keep everyone where they are. The only other thing to consider is who might play well in the coming month and base it on potential but I have never liked doing that. On that basis alone, any team with Rattlesnk in it must be made a contender for the top places, but still, he hasn’t played for Power yet and it would be unfair to rank them any higher than they were last month, save for a jump above the now defunct Dignitas team.
With rumours about blight circulating, its hard to justify having them in the top ten and although I don’t rate them all that highly, H2K did do well at DSRack so they make the Top Ten this month.
Frankly, it’s been a largely boring month full of player retirements, switches, team folds and tournament failures. Roll on proper LAN season."
The latest addition to the Cadred news team and CS:S voting panel, Mike brings with him an in depth knowledge of the European scene and not just those usual suspects that everyone can claim to know about. Having started plying his trade as a news contributer, he is now part of the management team here at Cadred and contributes regularly with features.
"There is still little to base things on thanks to the lack of any major European event, however most teams are being kept slightly active with either the EPS or ESEA. Reason Gaming were unlucky not to make the play-offs of the ESEA league as were team Verygames but they both remain unchanged in my vote - the recent change from team Verygames will only make them stronger in my opinion.
Just behind them are The Imperial who have impressed again this month, this time at offline events rather than online, which will hopfully put an end to the neverending stream of "onliners" that seemed to come their way. Their victories against somewhat lesser opposition were expected but it still proves that the team are headed in the right direction.
Power Gaming are another team who have made some changes this month, bringing in the truly awesome Sam 'RattlesnK' Gawn, which should prove a masterstroke in the coming months when I hope we will see them bag their first event win.
Next month we should get a much better picture of who deserve to be where with both i39 and the Copenhagen Games taking place, so it makes for an interesting month."
Jason "Jay" Atkins
Since starting his shoutcasting career at the now defunct Team Sportscast Network Jay was until recently a quadv shoutcaster.
Having covered a multitude of games his primary focus has been on CSS and CS 1.6. In the 2 years he has been covering CSS he has seen most if not all of Europe and North America's top teams duke it out in countless leagues and LAN's.
Jay has been around eSports for 5 years now, and broadcasting for 3. In his time he has seen leagues, teams and organisations both flourish and fail.
"In what has to be said are very confusing times for the CS:S community this Top 10 was probably the one of the hardest for me in recent memory, I wish because of competition but it's due to a lack of LAN tested rosters. With one of Source's most decorated teams calling a day Dignitas while not the Dignitas of old were definitely still a top 10 EU team. With the recenet loss of the Fnatic squad, the French scene going through an adjustment and seemingly the UK scene committing Sepuku it will be interesting to see what emerges from the myriad of up and coming teams.
It will be interesting to see if the new Power Gaming line-up can fully utilize the talents of Sam 'Rattlesnake' Gawn, motivation can be a factor when the LAN scene hits a lull. However thankfully there is a light at the end of the tunnel with i39 sorting the wheat from the chaff in the UK scene and The Copenhagen Games in Denmark both kicking off early April, there should be some clarity to the Top 10. For the most part I expect this month's Top 10 to be a confusing landscape."
