Gamelux Open #2 Cancelled
@ General coverage channel

The year started brightly for CS:S, with the announcement of three new LAN events to add to our calender. During the month of February it took a turn for the worst as two of them were cancelled.

Today brings the announcement that the third LAN event will be cancelled due to lack of signups. The Gamelux Open #2 was due to take place at the WZZRD centre in Enschede, Netherlands on the 22nd of March. It would feature a CS:S and CS 1.6 tournament with very respectable prize funds in todays climate, there was also the chance of a CSPromod tournament with a cash prize should enough people be interested.

Yet after 2 months they had only received 5 signups for the CS:S tournament and 6 for the 1.6, with a minimum of 10 needed the organizers have decided to call it off. It is another in a long line of disappointments for the CS:S community, one can only hope that it picks up in time for the summer LAN season.

Official statement taken from Gamelux website:

Perhaps a little bit optimistic but we have recently announced the second edition of Gamelux open. An event in which the majority of the entrance fees would be added to the prize pool and the event would be focused on a top-levelled competition and a friendly community. Unfortunately we'll have to announce that we'll postpone until a later date. We have previously announced that the tournament would only take place if there were ten or teams per game. Currently we're at six 1.6-teams and five source-teams and no one has paid just yet. Enough reason for us to cancel the event.

More news on any possible next edition will follow.
