@ General coverage channel

The top professional gaming gear manufacturer, SteelSeries, has announced the first edition of their eSports Challenge, with €10,000 up for grabs for Call of Duty 4!

The news comes only days after the first event of 2010, the Crossfire Intel Challenge 7. The event will feature 32 teams, and will cost each team €350 to enter and will run between Friday the 30th of April and Sunday the 2nd of May. The location will be Cop3nhag3nRobot in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. Tek-9 will be posting a "Guide to SEC" article soon for those interested in the different travel/accomodation options.

A similar system to CIC7 will be used at the event, with 8 groups and 2 teams progressing from each group. A 16 team single elimination bracket played best of 3 will then determine the winner.

SteelSeries will be using 40 identical tournament PC's for the event, and have secured the Vita Nova staff as their admin crew. Prize money is also said to be guaranteed to be paid at the event, although they do note that should less than 32 teams sign up, prize money could be changed.
