MUTE VOICE BIND

LEARN HOW TO MUTE ALL PLAYER VOICES

INTRODUTION

Occasionally you will find yourself on a team, whether in matchmaking or in a casual game, where you will have an annoying teammate who is either speaking too loud or too frequently over voice chat. Fortunately there is an easy way to deal with these players, below you will be shown how to mute all incoming voice chat and also how to gradually reduce volume down to zero too.

This guide highlights the following key topics:

HOW TO SET UP A MUTE VOICE BIND

It is super easy to set up this bind, all you need to do is enter the bindtoggle command listed below into your developer console. If you aren’t too keen on having to do this every time you play the game, then you can add this in to your config too.

    bindtoggle j voice_enable

    HOW IT WORKS

The below bind is a special type of command that can be toggled on and off whenever the designated key has been pressed. Here we have the “j” button set to toggle on and off all voice communications. The command functions by setting voice_enable to either 0 or 1. In certain situations you might not want to completely turn off voice communications and instead just turn down the volume, this can be achieved by using the command indicated in the section below.

    REDUCE VOICE VOLUME

An alternative to completely muting all inbound voice communications is to reduce voice volume incrementally. This can be a life saver in clutch situations where there is a lot of people talking. This command will gradually decrease the voice chat volume from a maximum value of 1 down to 0 in steps of 0.1. Again, this command can be entered straight into the developer console, or into your config.

    bind j “toggle voice_scale 0.1 1”
